Hot Import Nights
I just got back from Hot Import Nights in Orlando and damn there where some awsome ass cars. Ill post some pictures once i get um. They had a 732 hp Supra.
|
I went to H.I.N. in Philadephia last year and saw plenty of nice cars and like you said "some awesome ass" (aka several sexy sirens slinking salaciously). I'll probably go again this year when it comes back to Philly.
My slightly moded Supra still runs on the stock turbos (so I got just 435rwhp/455rwtq) but a 732hp is not uncommon if you slap a big turbo on it along with the other supporting mods; at least half a dozen local Supra club members have that or more and that's just in the NY/NJ/PA/MD vicinity. |
Yeah, some Supra's hit upwards of 1100+.
Either way, 732 is still a 12 second timeslip and one hell of a beast. Please, post pictures soon. The more Supra's I see, the bigger hardon I get! mMMmMmMMMMmmMmmmm! I want one, but holy shit, to find a decent one with low mileage, well, your looking at 40-60k for a nice one. I didn't even pay that for my M3. |
732 horse and only a 12 second slip? Damn, thats horrible, traction or not.
|
thats what we call a dynoqueen
|
Heh, how's that joke go? Whats the difference between the 400hp Supra and the 800hp Supra?...
|
Supras = dyno queens to the extreme. The suspension just isn't setup to put the power to the pavement.

Sure, sure, everything you guys said is all correct so please don't make the mistake of buying a stupid gutless Supra, leave them for us stupidos. I can tell you guys are real knowledgeable about these cars ...and I'm talking about the "car" here not some owners who think these are museum pieces or car show fixtures.
Kurant, you can find a quite nice MkIV (latest version) Supra for way under $30k, I'd say average low to mid $20k's. I just checked my local Northeast area Supra forum and the national forum and there are several nice ones for sale. Btw, I don't know what area or country you are from but if you're not too far, I've been at Pocono and Watkins Glen several times over the last few years with local BMW club racers so you should come join me and your BMW buddies to see what's what. And if any of you want to show me how much better and faster your car will handle on a road course than my "dynoqueen", and how bad my suspension is at putting power to the ground, please come to Pocono on June 19 and 20, you can sign up here http://www.imp-auto.com/pda/pages/schedules.htm It's a huge lot of fun and you'll learn how to drive your car properly. And last but not least: "The suspension just isn't setup to put the power to the pavement" ...hahahahhhhaaa that is the best one I've heard in a long time :) |
A 730 hp supra only goes 12's? Is that really true? So I'm guessing that engines boosted that high only make decent torque for the top 1000 rpm or so?
|
Maybe this has turned into a lesson in handling rumors.
It looks to me like maybe Kurant's comment of "Either way, 732 is still a 12 second timeslip and one hell of a beast" and then WarWagon countering with "732 horse and only a 12 second slip? Damn, thats horrible" and suddenly it becomes fact that this 732hp Supra only runs 12et's. I don't know what it runs, but none of that sounded like a statement of fact to me. Maybe Kurant thinks that would be a good et. Of course, that time sucks for even 500hp. However, I know there are Supras out there with improperly sized turbos running shitty street tires with no traction that are lucky to run even 12's. |
damn sorry guys been really busy with stuff and my friend has my memory stick so ill post soon...

All I was saying is that it's one hell of a car. Most Supra's dont run real well in a 1/4 mile. I visit a few Supra forums around the net, I've seen vid runs of 640rwhp Supras running 11's to a 589hp Supra run 10.65 on race gas. A low 12 second pass with 500 hp isn't all that out of the norm with Supra's, depending on the driver, boost, FMIC, size of the downpipe, BPU, if it's been modded to a single turbo from a twin turbo, gearing mods.. etc.. etc..
Alot depends on setup. But if your buying a Supra based on the 1/4 mile time, your an idiot. My BMW buddies? Show me "what's what"? Come on, are all Supra owners arrogant too? Or just you? Give me a break. Want to compare apples to oranges? Anytime you want to compare German engineered cars to Japanese cars they don't build anymore, be my guest. Supra's aren't well known for any kind of regular road racing/auto X, track racing, they just aren't. They are much more known for 1/4 mile times, and the sick top speeds they are capable of. The weight distibution isn't that great, they are heavy, and unless you've done the suspension work, they really don't handle that well. None the less, it's a sick car, it's a drivers car, and I'd love one. Yes, I've looked at MkIV's online for a while now. I guess I'm just picky. I don't want the ones loaded with miles. If it has over 40k, I'm just not intrested. That might be asking much, but It's just me, I guess. Beggars can't be choosers, right? :) And no, a 732 HP Supra, won't run 12's. Low 11's, most likely. |
