Loctite Question
 

Im in a bit of a pinch here . . .

I have a stainless hall effect sensor that has its jam nut bonded with loctite, what grade loctite I'm not sure. I need to get this nut loose so I can adjust the sensor closer to the trigger wheel on the camshaft since one pulse is not being detected. (trigger was machined out of round) Now since its a sensor I cant heat it up at all, which seems to be the universal cure all for this problem. Any solvents or chemicals that can be used? I googled the hell out of this and got nothing.

The application is a Haltech controlled, turbocharged Honda F3 in a formula car that needs to be running in 5 hours or im fucked. I'll post pictures later, thanks in advance for any help.

It depends on the grade of Loctite. I'd start by trying rubbing alcohol, then carb cleaner, then acetone. Each one is increasingly likely to dissolve the loctite, but could also dissolve any plastic on/around the sensor as well, so be careful.

thanks, turns out carb medic and a hair dryer worked like a champ. All four pulses picked up and the Haltech responded well.
