Only caught the tail-end of the first episode in the new BBC series of Top Gear.

However, it was good.

<I>Now, remember last series when we had the STIG race a sea harrier in a SAAB, and before that when we accidentally killed the old STIG by launching him off the end of HMS Invincible. Well, we had to think of something even better for our return this series. So we invited the Army over for a cup of tea and asked if they would mind very much bringing an Apache gunship helicopter. The Apache has 12 hellfire missiles, two rocket launchers and a machine gun that can fire 650 rounds per minute. So, the challenge, Jeremy had to drive the Lotus Exige around our track, and stop the Apache from getting a weapons lock. Simple.</I>

So, he was driving a jet black Lotus Exige around the track, handbrake turning, etc. etc, with the Apache trying to get weapons lock. They couldn't do it. The Exige could turn faster and out-maneouvre the darned Apache. Awesome.

However, when the Apache was a distance away, it was easy - locked on no probs.

And to cap it off, the Exige with its 1.8 liter Toyota engine was the 5th (or was it sixth) fastest all-time around their circuit. Faster even than the 911GT3 ...

is this a new 04 series of top gear? I live in the states so i am not able to see top gear or fifth gear unelss someone posts on teh newsgoups. If you know were else i can get ahold of episodes that would rock.

Just gonna check on Suprnova ... nope, nothing posted. Damn shame.

Clarkson had a fantastic time though - seeing him pulling donuts underneath the damn Apache, with the chopper spinning around trying to get a lock on.

He gets all the luck, that darned lanky git.

do they run this on BBC America? I haven't seen it but it sounds great!

I just watched and it looks awesome!

It even has shot of seeing an apache in his rearview mirror. Talk about several wet dreams combined!

Jeremy was very thrilled about the car, and wasn't ashamed to show it.
