Wheel Alignment
I was in a fender bender a couple of weeks ago and my alignment got messed up from that. I've been too lazy to go get it done, but now I hear grinding noises when I brake and turn (so I assume I got problems with the brakes now too). RIght now I have to hold my steering wheel about 15 degrees to the right to make it drive straight. Any idea how much this is going to cost me? The car is front-wheel drive so I hear that camber and caster can't be adjusted? Yeah, so I guess I need a rough estimate for an alignment so I can budget how much it's going to set me back. TIA.
Also, estimate on how long it'll take would be helpful, too. Last edited by nash; 04-08-2004 at 07:53 PM.. |

JUST the alignment should be $50 give or take. Depending on where you got hit, how hard you got hit, etc. it could be a number of things. Could be tie-rods skipped some threads or something, could be balljoints, could be bent up controls arms, could be a fubar'd steering rack. Could be cheap, could be expensive. Could be a cheap toe related pull, could be a more expenssive comber related pull. Get it checked out. Expect a total of around 200 dollars (alignment, labor, parts, and a brake check). Could be more, but may be less and youll be happy. Really hard to tell without pics or something though.

I believe the average price is $59.00 but that is in my city, Chicago. I'd look into seeing if there are any sounds coming from that area as well, because the suspension could be messed up with, as well as, your wheel bearings.
Take it to a local Firestone or such and it will be looked at with care. Explain all the aftermath feelings when driving and such. GL
