San Diego, CA.

I haven't put gas in it in the last week or so, but when i did it was around $2.19 or so as the mega-cheapass-watered down stations, and a good 2.25 for the cheapest for decent gas. Then the usual .10 higher with each grade. And i need to put medium in these days too :(

Ilow 03-29-2004 05:02 PM

Here in Mass it's about:
1.75
1.84
1.92

I guess I'm getting off easier than some of you out there even though I have to get premium for my car (turbo).

bparker805 04-01-2004 07:05 PM

i paid 2.10 for the cheap shit at the cheap place today. how can oil companies justify the differences in gas prices throughout the nation? over 50 cents cheaper in texas than in california... it doesnt make any cents (haha) to me.

I had to fill up last night, yikes!

$2.21 for premium at costco in Santa Cruz. $2.49 for premium at 76 and Chevron. Premium in California is only 91. I never see 93 like you do on the east coast.

From what Ive heard, its state policies that effect gas prices from state to state. My understanding is that California can only import so much oil, driving up its own gas prices due to all the exporting it does.

Erie PA -

87 - $1.699999 to 1.80 depending if you are near the interstate.
Diesel is around the $1.73 to 1.79 also depending as above.

Prices dont really change from CountryFair(Citgo), Apple(Shell), or sheetz.

santafe5000 04-07-2004 06:41 PM

Our prices are still hanging around $1.65/Gal. The vast differences in prices state to state are due to different state taxes, and in the case of Calif., the requirement for special air quality formulas of gas.

Boo 04-07-2004 07:26 PM

Toronto right now, 61.9 per litre.

That's about $2.25 Canadian per US gallon, or about 1.75 US per US gallon.

And that's the cheapest it's been in weeks.

Probably tomorrow, it will be up to 76 cents again.

Would you say that MOST cars in Europe get on average 6 litres per 100 km???

(I think that's about 40 MPG.)

I know my Buick averagees about 9.8 litres per 100 km.

The most fuel-efficient car I've ever owned got 19 mpg in town, so I've gotten used to just not looking at the pump when I fill up. It's easier that way. :)

I remember back in '99, some friends and I went to Ocean City MD for Senior week. We were all outraged at how they jacked up the price to $1.14/gallon to soak all the tourists. Those were the days...

telekinetic 04-14-2004 02:39 AM

My uncle lived in Belguim, but got US prices from the embassy (or greatly reduced anyway) and drove around a extracab Ford ranger. We drove to Paris in it and got sooo many looks, when we finally parked it (hard as hell BTW) a whole bunch of people swarmed around it and started asking questions. One of the guys, who was pretty old, had apperantly never seen a truck in person before. Kinda cool.

you know its getting bad when someone starts a thread about how expensive gas is getting.

over the past week or so, gas has gone up at least $.30, which is crazy. it went up $.12 one night, then $.08 the next and now its just slowly creeping up.

my dad's got theory about why its going up higher and higher. the thinks that once the presidential elections start getting closer, Bush will put a price freeze on gas in order to gain a few extra votes, and put it under $2.00 a gallon. so right now, we are seeing gas companies do a sort of preemptive inflation on the prices.

Thats not actually all that bad. You get much, much, higher octane than we do here. 98 octane race gas will run us 4-5 bucks a gallon as well. And out premium, is still only 91 octane.

Its still bad, but considering the octane you get, it could be much worse. Couple years ago i saw 103 octane gofor $5/gal, so with increased prices, and European prices, thats really not all that bad.

Interesting how the price of gas blows up to 2 bones a gallon when Light Sweet Crude jumps to $40.00 / barrel. Now with the price of oil hovering around $53.00 per barrel why hasn't the price of gas jumped significantly?

We've heard about how the Gulf of Mexico rigs were impacted by hurricane Ivan and how the Nigerian oil worker's pending strike are going to hurt an already pushed to capacity supply side. The demand should be showing a seasonal slow down but not that much and not this early. Hmmmmm....Oh well. I'll keep taking the bus when I can. Saves a bunch on parking in the queen city anyway.
