I finally bought a (not quite) new car!
I've been yakking about buying a decent car for a couple years but did nothing. Well, the old Dodge finally died last week (and I mean donated it to Goodwill "died") so the decision was made for me to do it rather soon.
Anyway, came home just this afternoon with this one. I do believe I'm going to like it. http://www.techquarium.com/temp/P3101450cs.jpg http://www.techquarium.com/temp/P3101447cs.jpg Any other SLK owners here? Please do share your experiences. |
beautiful looking car!!! very nice choice in deed. i love the way the hard top retracts. I saw a guy at the mall put up the retractible roof and i just stared in awe..
the new SLK is coming out i believe. It looks really slick - very similar to the SLR. If you waited a little bit more i'm sure you could have picked up the newer model. But good choice regardless. |
I was struggling to keep the price under $20K so this was it. It's a '98 model (should have said that in the first post) with 40K miles on it.

Amazing looking car, great choice!
|
Ahh German engineering. Looked at those should be a pretty good car. I really like the retractable hardtop.
|
Nice choice! I've always wanted an SLK, and that would be my choice too! Enjoy your purchase.
|
Great choice! Gotta love German engineering!
|
Nice and shiny:)
|
looks great. Should be a lot of fun to drive.
|
glad to see ya bodypainter... and that is one sweet sweet car. Good thing you got the last generation SLK because MB is pumping out some damn shitty cars with their new generation.
|
I think I have a woody. Yes, I have a woody for your car.
DAMN! That's nice. |
That thing is soooo sweet!!! I know a woman who drives a silver one, with red and black leather interior...drooolll....made her open and close the roof 3 times, just 'coz its so damn cool... Excellent choice, sir! :D

Sweet ride you got there :) Awesome choice and great condition. Congrats and enjoy :)

Thanks everyone. 48 hours later I'm lovin' it.
Probably not many care besides me, but I put several more pictures up (and with much higher resolution) on one of our sites. http://www.techquarium.com/gallery/slk-01 |
I envy you by quite a lot atm.... :)

Not a Mercedes fan at all, but not a bad car nonetheless......

I've never been a Mercedes fan either but something about this one, especially seeing the top go down, just grabbed me. I'd been looking at convertibles anyway and this made sense. It's certainly quieter when it's up than a ragtop would be and more secure as well. It's been over a week now. I already wish it had a few more horsepower. Maybe someday I'll chip it and put a different pulley on the supercharger. Word is I can gain 20 to 30 HP for a reasonable price without taking significant life on the engine. 17" wheels/tires might be in my future too (has 16" stock). This car must rate though because I did something special for it. I've lived in this house 6 years and have never had a car in my garage due to lots of junk and my motorcycle being in there. Well, now all the junk is in the shed, the motorcycle is in the driveway, and the car has a dry home. http://www.techquarium.com/temp/P3131483s.jpg woot! |
Nice looking car, must be a real change from driving a Dodge.
|
You got that right! Not that I hate Dodge or anything, just my old Dodge.
Presenting the Dodge... http://www.techquarium.com/temp/DCP05888cs.jpg As you can see, I did take a step up. :) |
Great car, and congrats, cars are sweet!
|
I've always like the SLK but it desperately needs some aftermarket wheels.
