I....I dont know what to think. I think i like it, though the styling seems kinda bland. They could definately pull off a badass looking 2door...but i think this one just has a few too many doors for my liking. Will take a while to grow on me, but its starting out with a favorable impression.

I think it's a good idea from Porsche. I'm excited to see the final product.

There's been a whole lot of chatter in the 928 community about this one. Look for another front-engined, water-cooled 8 cylinder car around 2007.
As for the HP claims of 500 or more, it seems entirely reasonable. The last 928 in 1995 was normally aspirated at 5.4L and produced 345 HP. 12 more years of technological advancements, and maybe a turbo or supercharger would make 500 HP pretty easy to accomplish. Since they've got the V8 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, it doesn't take a big leap of faith to assume that this new engine will make it into a car. It won't be in the next 911 since the 911 purists would hate it as much as they hated the 928 the first time around. And since the last 928s to roll of the assembly line 10 years ago carried a showroom sticker of $100K+, it's a good bet it'll be priced well north of the 911 Turbo and GT3, but below the Carrera GT. Throughout it's production run, the 928 was Porsche's most expensive model. |
.....interesting, but I REALLY don't like the design. If anyone has seen the brand new '06 911 pics, THOSE are pure sex.
one word: BORRRRRRRRRRRRRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for the price i'd definately buy another supercar..
Too round looking for me. I liked the orginal design.
Sweet.
Looks like it's been squashed. A squashed toad. Where's the daring? The innovation? No COTY for this ugly mutt, I'm afraid.
Not bad looking
Don't like the headlight design, the back end, or the roof. But other than that....

I don't think it looks to bad... and for the HP not horribily overpriced. We have yet to see if all will remain the same till then. The money to HP ratio is pretty good, for a porsche.
well, let's see more of this as it develops... interesting look from them...
I seriously doubt the headlights (assuming the car is built) will resemble the current god-awful teardrop shapes. The new 911s are returning to the familiar round shapes.
As to the prior 928s being beaten on, well, it's sadly true that many folks bought a "supercar" after they depreciated a ton and failed to realize that labor rates for regular maintenance (timing belts, etc.) are still priced at non-depreciated levels. Unless the owners are willing to take care of the cars themselves (like me), chances are that normal routine stuff is being ignored. If anyone was actually interested in getting one from an owner that cares about the car and maintained it well, check out http://forums.rennlist.com. There's a 928 forum there with a LOT of owners and a LOT of technical/repair knowledge. As for the new 928, I doubt it will look like the picture at all. |
I absolutely adore the new Carrera GT, but this is somewhat of a disappointment. I mean come on Porsche, four doors? If its a supercar, the last thing you want is two more door and more passenger compartment weighing you down. Although, I guess plenty of the rich bastards that buy Porsches to say they have Porsches might consider this. I think it kinda kills the 928 legacy though. For that amount of money, there are tons of cars I would buy with four doors before that (WRX STi).......and it could knock the socks off the Porsche after I got done modding it with my leftover money. Or maybe a Z06...............hell yeah a Z06
this is exciting news, I can't wait to see where they take it.
For fuck's sake, it isn't difficult to think of a different 3 digit number beginning with 9.
Why didn't they call it the 943, or the 974, or the 935, or the 952, or the 9... |
very sweet

It's the press, not the factory, that's calling the new car a 928. |
looks way more ritzy than before. i like!
im not sure i like the 4 doors, sports cars should only be two, if not one door
Who ever did the pics should have at least made the same plate #'s. 4 doors is abit too wierd for Porsche. Next thing we know we got Lambo's and Ferraries with 4 doors and SUV's. ...
That looks much better.
hmm, a 4-door porsche, that's a new one. looks kinda good for a sedan, but just can't get past the fact that it's a four-door porsche. they're not supposed to look like that. damn, i want one. shit its got me hooked.
Somebody needs to slap Porsche for these attempts at practicality. First the Cayenne, now this. Nobody buys a damn Porsche so people can comfortably fit in the back seat.
Whoa thats on hell of a family car!! It doesn't look that bad, Porsche=4Door??
thats a sweet car
WOW a porsche sedan.. Now thats a family car Id love to own..
Dream Dream Drrrrreeeam...... AT |
I always liked the 928 .. a 4 door new millineum version would be very interesting
thanks for that pic fastshark.
this isn't fair. yet another pretty porsche being made that i'll never own... i wish they'd just stop it!!! |
I think it looks dope! Very sleek.
That looks pretty sweet, but inconsistant with porsche styling.
