that's right, 2 engines. one drives the front wheels and one drives the rear. how crazy is that??? (saw a show about it last year too)

sadistikdreams 02-15-2004 12:18 AM

DAMN

castex 02-15-2004 12:36 PM

Yes, it's also very, very fast (200++ mph). Still only a TT, mind:)

wakelagger 02-15-2004 01:06 PM

Does one drive the front and the other back axle? Or is it two engines tied into one awd system?

peacy 02-15-2004 01:11 PM

I think the idea was first introduced by Citroen in 1960. The Citroen 2CV Sahara had 2 engines.

Some more info: 2CV Sahara

harris Jeffer 02-18-2004 10:55 PM

too bad it's still an audi

madsenj37 02-19-2004 02:24 AM

Ive seen this on TV, probably same show. Cool idea.

orangeaidcow 02-19-2004 03:53 AM

There's something wrong with audi?

bookerV 02-19-2004 06:17 AM

wow thats badass.
interesting idea, i would have to think that has taken some sweet engineering to get it to work properly together. keep everything in sync without one lagging too much.
very impressive top speed. i'd be embarrassed if i was rippin around in a new lamborghini and this little yellow TT flew by me....

LMAO

that would rock, I think it would take a lot of time to get both engines running perfect with each other!

PoteMatic 02-19-2004 09:32 AM

Damn thats cool.

Ilow 02-19-2004 03:54 PM

I'd take one, and I'm not even the biggest Audi fan in the world. They do have great handling usually, but considering the wieight ratio was about 50/50 before, it must be fucked now!

wrongfullyaccuzd 02-19-2004 10:05 PM

That's fucking awesome. That won't ever make production...will it? Has it? Insane?

rs8001 02-19-2004 10:40 PM

Not the first time... Car and Drive did an article titled "Hubba Hubba Honda Honda, on a two engine Honda CRX back in the mid-eighties shortly after the car was introduced. Couldn't find anything on-line about it though.

Wow that would be to much power for that small car!

i dunno, it might be two 80 hp engines ;)

bookerV 02-20-2004 10:33 AM

or maybe the second engine was a lawnmower engine? ;)

LMAO!

Also, Mosler engineering will build you a two-engined cadillac. They use a 300 hp and 275 hp northstar, and the trannies are different. So the shifts are totally smooth, because one engine is pushing while the other is shifiting.
Also, one of the competitors for Sport Compact Car's ultimate street car challenge had a Twin engined Hyundai Tiburon with two turbos on each engine. For the burnout competition, he put one in drive, and one in reverse. They said the car just started to rotate in place for a minute. He killed on the dragstrip, but the handling was piss-poor.

That would have been awesome to see that burn out!

twilightfoix 02-21-2004 10:40 AM

i saw something like that in a magazine but with a tiburon, both engines put out more than 600hp combined. don't have any pics, wish i did though. saw him do the coolest burnout where he put the front engine in drive and the rear engine in reverse and laid into the gas pedal.

Multiple engines isn't a new concept. Certain racers in the 60's were running 4 motors for specialty exhibition cars, the guys who do tractor pulls regularly run well in excess of this, with engines making well over 1000hp a piece.

Well the tractor pull guy s run something like 6 to 8 engines but they all power the back wheels
