The convertible looks alright top down, but the coupe...yick. And, who's the asshat comparing this to the GTO? Egads, man! What are you thinking? Two different classes of car. Apples and oranges, dude, apples and oranges!

I think it looks alright. The back looks a bit awkward though. Have to make final decision when I see it in person though
One thing about these cars that I don't like is that once it is out, there will be a lot of people driving them. Seems like the car looses its uniqueness (is this a word? ). So I'll probably be sick of it . |

Hmm....for some reason i find it looks kinda like the s2000. Cant tell ya why though...odd.
Anyway, i have always been a fan of the SLK cars. This one is almost ready to break that pattern though I like what they did with the fron half of the car, but the back half, and with the top up - the roofline - i think...well, Mercedes should be able to come up with something better. Id still wanna test drive it though

I like the car, although I think it could use a bit of work, slimmer back side to make the car less wedge-shaped, maybe different headlights, but overall, I think they did a good job. I realize that slimming it is probably impossible due to space needed to retract the top, maybe something could be changed in a coupe with a solid top. |

a soilid top would definitley make this a more appealing not a big fan of convertibles. maybe a more pronounced slr front end the similarities are there but just draw it out a bit more.

i've never liked the SLK with the top up.... and most convertibles don't look as nice with the top up.
top down... that I like.

Looks much better than the older SLKs, which I thought looked way too much like the convertible Geo Metro.
I think it kind of devalues the SLR by having a front end that looks so similar on their entry-level convertible though. It'd be like Chevy making the Cavalier look like a Vette. |

I Agree with Isreg; the old SLK had a snub nose and they have addressed that with this revision. That having been said, I don;t like the SLR, and I like this even less. And, they sloped the body line so much that no matter how large a wheel you put in the back, with the space between the wheel arch and top, it will look like a 14"

I was talking to one of the Merc reps at the Philly car show, and he said that Mercedes is taking almost all of its roadsters in the same direction as the SLK McClaren. Personally, I love it. I really think it's the right way to go.
