this car says yeah look at me i bought a grand prix with a fancy engine that will blow up because it's a pontiac. seriously though i might be biased because i hate american cars but can GM not come up with a different exterior look for these cars. i still can't tell the grand prix apart from the grand am and now the GTO. wait why would i want to be able to tell them apart i usually look away when they are around once again TRY A DIFFERENT BODY STYLE FOR DIFFERENT CARS.

It's called understated elegance. The interior quality has been favorably compared with the BMW interiors. Granted, the exterior isn't exactly flashy, but that's the point. The original GTO wasn't flashy either. GM did a good job with this car...it'll be a sleeper to a point. Unsuspecting F-body and Mustang drivers will get caught with their pants down. Personally, GM needs more cars like this. Not necessarily looking like this, but with this idea in mind.

the words pontiac and elegance don't go together. and there is no comparison between the interior of a Beemer and this thing. Did GM make this comparison?

the exterior isn't flashy because its the same design from 3-5 years ago times change. didn't work then doesn't work now.

Saw the GTO at the car show a couple days ago...maybe ill upload some pics. Anyway, i think the styling is very bland...not much too it. But thats not a car you buy for the styling. Personally, i think the Holden version looks much better.

I too am very disappointed in this. The brand just seems like the rejects of GM. If I have a 350hp engine, I don't want understaed elegance. I want my car to say "go ahead and fuck with me."

Ok ... these are a few pics of it from the auto show a few days ago. Brother took the pics so they certainly aren't the best view of the car. Also...imagestation is kinda slow.

No...Motor Trend made that comparison. This is probably the best interior GM has done in a long time. It does feel solid, and looks good, too. In my opinion, this car represents the classic GTO pretty well. Sure, I think the tail lights could use some help, but other than that...it's just about perfect.

just because it is the best interior GM has done in a long time and yes we will be seeing a lot of it everyone knows how they love to recycle garbage and a magazine makes a comparison does not make it so. and if you think it's just about perfect like i said before it's been around for 3-5 years already. you probablt like the grand prix and grand am as well? and judging by the nascar signature you probably can't wait to see this crappy thing going round and round for 4 hours. try F1 or world rally there's drivers with skill.

Well the styling leaves something to be desired, but the car overall represents a step in the right direction for GM. The Holden Monaro (what this car is called elsewhere) is a pretty kickass car. It took on an M5 in a comparo and just BARELY lost out. Considering how much less this car costs than the M5, I'd say it deserves some attention.

For years GM has been making boring, crappy clones of all its other cars, and for years the cars have had some of the worst reliability ratings in the industry. It was so bad that GM even ran ads last year apologizing for it. It'd be nice to see them come out with some quality for once.

i know nothing about cars because i state the truth the car looks like a grand prix or grand am whatever the hell they are.

when i say i can't tell the differenc its because i actually don't give a shit about these cars. are you another idiot spouting his unfounded opinions all ovcer the place sounds like it to me. what is the purpose of a forum if no one states thier opinion?

no i haven't sat in a GTO and probably never will they don't appeal to me.as for the shut the fuck up part well very mature.

WE never established that i know nothing but i'm guessing you think you know everything.

when has GM kicked the piss out of anything for less money? and don't say the sunfire.

i'm impressed you read something to get your info you get a gold star.

i neve rsaid i could out drive any of these people, but i know i can't watch someone drive around an oval for 4 hours and get excited they should know the track they do 400 laps.

an F1 car doesn't impress you but a nasscar does and i know nothing about cars that funny.

Wow...umm...im ALMOST at a loss for words. There are plenty of other cars...but first and foremost comes to mind the Chevrolet Corvette ZO6. Name another car nears its price that could even begin to compete with it. Maybe you can think of one. Maybe two. But that still leaves a helluva lot of cars that it "kicked the piss out of".

Cadillac CTS-V. That LS6 makes it a pretty formidable luxory car, and a price that is better than a few others.

Not quite sure on the price on this, but im sure it too will also outperform most cars in its price range :

With THIS crammed in it :

Again, a few cars may beat it, but GM has always been about making powerful cars ... and making them affordable. I think they are much better at it than ford, chrysler, and many of the foreign comapnies as well.

I have typed enough, so i wont even touch the whole racing thing... But I also think it does look a bit like that black one, with the exception of the headlights.

This thread should not be degrading into a flamewar. That's where it looks like it's going. Next time anyone starts telling someone to "shut the fuck up" or calls them an idiot, I'm closing the thread. I'm sure that there are a bunch of people who want to have a serious, mature discussion, so don't ruin it for them.

i'd take a mustang SVT over a vette and the GXP still sticks to the basic exterior design the grand prix look. the only smart thing chevy has done lately is take the CTS and turn it from a 220 hp baby (a friend owns one and it was great except gutless) and give it 250 hp for the new model year. the CTS-V is a good car but the model is still relatively new i'd go with the Benz C55 AMG.

what black one? do you mean the Supra?

Wow! This is the bigest flamewar I have ever seen here on the tfp. I figure, even though I don't like the car, to each their own. Also, This whole thing could have been avoided if people had simply explained their opinions in stead of stating them and expecting everyone to understand.

In no way other than speed does it resemble a GTO. Pontiac actually purchased the design from an Australian company. If you are going to bring back a classic, at least spend the time to bring it back and not buy a design that looks nothing like a the original.

"They got it from holden".

Isn't Holden a GM company? just goes by a different name overseas....at least i thought. If so, they didn't take it from anyone, just released as two different cars depending on where in the world you live.

Ok this will be my last post here in this thread...

If you read the "opinions" of silent jay, they were nothing more than "its a pontiac so it will fall apart" and this car will never compare to a Beemer" when in fact he has absolutley no experience with the GTO, and knows nothing about it except the fact that it is a GM product.

I will admit that I started the actual personal attacks, but in my book, when someone says "it'll fall apart because its a pontiac" and then gives no reasoning behind it, THAT is a flame.

But...whatever.

To the original poster...my apologies for shitting on your thread.

what is your experience with the GTO? i'm just curious you seem to think you know the inside and out simply because you read the specs. not trying to flame i actually want to know.
