I really like the look of your bike Nate. I like that Japinese chopper thing. The Jesse James chopper thing is cool, but getting old.

nate_dawg 07-01-2003 09:01 PM

dont worry, that jesse james chopper thing is a fad, just like 70's choppers.

there are guys out there building REAL hd chops, they're just low profile dudes, fuck everyone else

How does that beast handle? Ever scrape engine as it is like 20 feet wide? :P
Seriously, that's an awesome rare bike.

rockogre 07-02-2003 04:31 AM

nate_dawg, looking damn nice. Should be a helluva scoot when you get finished. Is that a shock under the seat or just a spring set up?

my bike looks just like this

http://www.imagearts.ryerson.ca/dgreen/82honda_broc.jpg

except this is a 750 and mine is a 650. also, mine isnt quite as clean and shiny as this.

still, it was dirt cheap and is a fun little sportabout.

Well, it's not a sport bike (by any modern definition) but it handles a lot better than one might think it would. The cylinders are tilted forward more than most inline engines to keep the center of gravity down, but that cylinder head is a monster. I've scraped the pegs a couple times and that was enough for me. While it feels good through the corner I just can't forget that it weighs well over 800 pounds (with my 160 added). I've never had to pick it up off the ground -- and I hope I never do!

One of the things I like best about this bike is the sound it makes while winding out - just like a Ferrari as it pulls up through the gears. That and the flying picket fence effect of seeing all those exhaust pipes coming at you is pretty cool. It is claimed this bike has the most moving parts ever put between two wheels.

Here's a great review of the bike.

you wouldn't stand a chance against this

you can't even see the badass "choppers for life" sticker or the as of yet non-functional hand shifter

Ha, all you guys pedaling around with those seats up your ass. I got a recumbent. Kicks ass except on long hills. Going down the other side I can hit 70Kph, even has disc brakes.

Mine's just like this.

I have an '81 Honda Nighthawk. Been having fever-dreams about doing the Japanese Chopper thing to it.

I wonder about my sanity.

Billege I can't see your bike. Could you please sort it out?!

tropicdiver 08-11-2003 06:39 PM

This isn't my bike, but I thought it was rather different. Spied it strapped down on a boat in Victoria Harbor, British Columbia, Canada. Notice the antlers and the tail and the bell.

My dads bike..1938 Knucklehead in a softail frame with a foot clutch and hand shifter next to the oil tank.

nate_dawg 08-11-2003 09:43 PM

a knuck in a softail frame?
why??
the horror

Moonduck 08-12-2003 05:05 PM

Nice knuck. Did he lose a bet on the frame though?

Admittedly, my Honda has a sprung rear, but I don't have the scratch to blow on a new frame for it.

Still diggin' on nate_dawg's Yamaha though. I hope to build a Triumph or Yama-bobber as my next project after the CB750-K4 that I'm working on now. What all do you have left to do aside from paint, nate?
