110 in a Mercury Cougar on I-10 in LA trying to get to the Airport (65 Zone).
~105 in my WRX on interstate (55 Limit). She had lots of room left, but I too am fearful of the cops. I like to drive too much to loose my license. DB.

125 or somewhere there abouts in a 35 industrial area. On a Ninja of my friend's. Went through 5 gears in the space of about 1/4 mile and looked down and the speedo, OHH S**T! Did not mean to do that. Needless to say I was excited, but a little shaken. I like speed, but at the rate those bikes accell/decell, I can see why stupid kids get killed on them so often. I have been driving since I was 8 so I know how to handle myself at speed. They give you a false sense of security. But like the old saying goes, "Speed does not kill, it is the sudden stop".

You guys will love this. I clocked 105 in a 55 in my 92' Ford Escort wag. It's completely stock, with the 1.9L DOHC. I also enjoy driving up and down Main Street (a 25 mph zone) at odd hours going 70 every once in a while.

I got a 96 mazda Protege up to 117 on the interstate, limit was 70. I think it had a 1.5L DOHC. Stock, nothing done to it. I also did about 85 in a 30, the cop only clocked me at 61 cause I had time to hit the brakes before he got a reading.

155 indicated, 65 zone, '02 M Coupe. (BMWs are notoriously optimistic, actual was probably 140)
170 indicated, no idea of limit, friend's CBR900. (Accurate? Who knows? Felt like about 200) Got pulled whilst doing 125ish. No radar, no ticket. Car's name from then on? "Lucky" My first post ever - figures this would be the topic! |

240 Kmph, (approx 150 mph) A 2002 Mercedes and no, I wasn't speeding since I was on the German Autobahn at the time.
And it was Autobahn 33, between Osnabrück and Bielefeld.

105 in a Plymouth Voyager .. I635 around Dallas (limit is 65 mph).. never will go that fast in a car not made for it...
136 with the top down on a 96 Mustang GT Convertible on George Bush... jump for a jaunt at 100-115 on I635 or I75 from time to time to unwind. On two separate occaisions, piled four girls (friends from work both times) in and took them for a little ride around 120 with the top down. First time one of the girls got out and complained she couldn't feel her tits... Yeah, I'm immature occaisionally. That stuff is so HS. I admit it. Its still fun though. 117 mph going downhill on I-90 in Spokane, WA in a stock '95 Dodge Ram Sport 4X4. Had to slow down due to traffic. it wa sa 60 mph zone.
105 in the same Ram racing a 90's Thunderbird in a 45 zone. It was late. 75 mph on a waverunner. Going that fast on water is a cool feeling. |

Probably the single dumbest thing I've ever done in my life, but it was hard to resist... I topped 4th in the VR4 and shifted to 5th staying in it for a bit. I was in the left lane, the foxbody Mustang was in the right lane a few cars back and normal traffic was in the middle lane. I'm guessing that I hit 150. The top of 4th would have been 140 but I was concentrating too much on traffic to look closely.

Go faster!

I have been:
1992 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.4 DOHC - 118mph, governed (65mph) 2004 Nissan Titan XC - 112mph, governed (55mph) 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme - 108mph, governed (65mph) 2000 Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 - 173mph, aero governed (65mph) 1969 Chevrolet 1/2 ton - 211mph, power governed (65mph) - This truck was purpose built with a 632CID V8, supercharged, fuel injected, and all sorts of other stuff. Made to go fast, and go fast it did. It dyno'd at 997RWHP...not my truck, but it was a blast to drive. The above listed Olds has plans to turn it in to a 165mph car. Engine's in the garage, and the plans are in my head. Here's to hoping!

Showing pic because many people aren't familiar with the Opel GT. Way back in the Seventies I was comfortable running it between 140 and 150. Because of the hood shape, the faster you went, the heavier it bacame. Drive a '99 Miata now, but to me at least it starts getting light a little over 100.

Wow. I can't beat that.
I went 225 on an old piece-of-shit 82 Honda Sabre motorcycle. It could have gone faster, but logic kicked in and my brain said to my right wrist: "How long to you think these old cracked tires will last at this speed? Oh... Well, what do you think will happen at this speed when one of these tires comes apart? Oh..." And then I slowed down to about 150. Then a wasp hit my neck, and I just about died anyway. Good times!

170 in a Porsche 911 Turbo at 2:30 am on a public freeway. My friend, who's a rally driver, was at the wheel, I was in the passenger seat.
At about 155, the turbo dumps a bunch of fuel which ignites in the exhaust, resulting in a very nice jet of flame belching 10 to 15 feet out the tailpipe. Which neither of us knew, though he remembered it after the fact. There we are, letting this car out, and suddenly the trees all around us are reflecting flashes of yellow light... We were both pretty sure we were busted. Turns out it was just our AFTERBURNER! |

173 indicated in a 35. Sounds worse than it was. Farm road, miles of visibility, no driveways. Still, a 1-lane road feels mighty narrow at that clip.

Driving the 402 between London and Sarnia late at night, you're alone with your thoughts. That's where I buried the needle in my car for the first time. My speedo reads up to 200 kmh (120 mph) and I still had a few extra rpm past that.

Fastest i've gone in my car is...95 mph In a 60.
But around my neighborhood where it's 25 I usually go at least 45, one time I went 55. But I drive a '00 Saturn SL2, so I guess thats pretty good considering my car. It's actually a lot quicker than you'd expect for a Saturn. I've yet to get a ticket, because I have a radar detector that always works well. |
