Nissan Confirms To Recall 1.02 Million Cars
TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Nissan Motor Co. plans to recall a total of 2.56 million vehicles sold in Japan and overseas due to faults in the engines, the automaker said Thursday.
The firm expects to book a Y15 billion-Y16 billion recall charge this fiscal year through March, but it has no plans to downgrade its earnings outlook for the current year, it said. Nissan will recall about 1.03 million vehicles in Japan and 1.53 million vehicles sold in the U.S. and other countries. Japan's ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said the number of vehicles Nissan plans to recall in Japan represents the country's second largest recall after the 1.04 million vehicles Nissan recalled in May 1996. The automaker added that the recall is already factored in to its earnings forecast for this fiscal year through March. In mid-October, Nissan said it expects a group net profit of Y495.0 billion for the full year, with an operating profit of Y820 billion and sales of Y7.450 trillion. Nissan will recall 23 models, including the Sunny (sold overseas as the Sentra), the Skyline (sold overseas as the Infinity G35) and the Fairlady Z ( sold overseas as the 350Z). Yea, the Skyline got nerfed into a sports-sedan for the R35 models. Maybe an R35 GT-R would be good, but I think the old skylines are about done for.
I don't have a website handy, but if I remember correctly the cost to import and get an R32 Skyline tuned to pass US emissions testing was approximately 25k, maybe 30k. For an R34, I think you're looking at upwards of 50k. Such a shame that they weren't sold here in the US.

The R35 Skyline is the ELEVENTH skyline series. The first being in the late 50s.
Not every generation had a GTR/GTS model, and those models meant different things and had different variations themselves. Usually the GTS's are the higher performing RWD models, the GTR being AWD. The base model Skyline always was a sports-sedan, or not even. The current R35 Skyline in Japan is almost the same thing as the Infiniti G35. There is no GTR version of the R35, yet. There will be, and those pictures aren't it. You *can* buy and import a NEW R34 Skyline GTR VSpec II from only one company, Motorex, who's gone through all the troubles of certifying it for use. Its $95K, though. |

Call me crazy but I just dont see what the big fuss is over skylines. Sure they may perform well and from what Ive heard respond to mods well.
But, people make them seem like the second coming. They dont look all that spectacular, and I would bet that an LS1 powered f-body would mop the floor with one of them anyday (if not stock then mabye with a couple grand in mods), and look better doing it. ![]() ![]() vs ![]() ![]()

i'm gonna buck the system here, but i have hated skylines ever since playing the first need for speed video game. how could you match that car up against a viper? to me, the skyline looks like a factory rice rocket...or at least the manifestation of every teen attempt to make thier civics look fast. dont get me wrong, i love nissan and have owned several nissans, including my current maxima se...but that skyline is just a waste of production capacity. slam a twin turbo on the 350 already and be done with it.

i've seen much better looking skylines that that, and if you goto japan, you can get a used skyline for around $5000(a lot of times less than that) you can also slap on some mods to get an insane amount of HP out of the Skyline engine. its amazing how much you can do to them.
