Yeah my Malibu has the manumatic or whatever you want to call it, with paddleshifters behind the wheel, but I'll never use it. I don't need to be hearing a garden variety GM V6 4-door family sedan revving to 5500rpm do I? I've had cars with this feature (that weren't Ferraris) and I don't see the point. It's like putting racing stripes on a Yugo, you know? Nice Mustangs...my friend had an '84 2.3L Intercooled Mustang SVO...175 big ones! Eh...it sounded cool anyway. cj22009, do you have the option to change the dashboard lighting color in your GT500? I love that feature, every car should have that, hehe. |

Aww jesus, dude. Go get a Smart ForTwo or something at least. And lemme know if you fit.

MSD,
Congratulations, pretty cool and rare...I never saw an invisible car in a parking lot. I can just barely make out a feature or two in you pic above. Here's a couple more I found, one shows it driving down the highway...like flashbacks to "trails"; the other one is trying to sneak into a parking garage http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ar_470x352.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...isible_car.jpg |

do you serenade other drivers?

Ah, the last of the chrome bumper Mustangs. I remember them well. That's a nice looking car.

The best feature about my 1998 Ford Taurus -

I have a 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS and I love it. It may not have the turbo but it is good on gas mileage, small and powerful enough to get me out of a jam when needed.

That van wins!! Amazing job on it, how much did that set you guys back?
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/2...ost355mbe2.jpg Current vehicle. Its a work vehicle, I got rid of mine cause I can use this for the small amount of personal driving that I do. And Badnick, I want a 94 supra in a bad way. I love them with the stockish body (aka. not riced out) |
Our drummer works for a company that makes the body wraps, among other things. They get printed in overlapping panels on gigantic bumper sticker material. We're still waiting to be invoiced, but we're told that this work, installed, would run over $3,000 USD to the general public.
Took @ 18 hours to prep and wrap the van in the drummer's driveway. He did an awesome job! Now, I'm going to start saving for some nicer wheels. Those stock steel wheels now look rather shabby. Budgets getting tight, though. |
You know grumpy, I never even noticed the wheels. That paint is so bad assed. With rims though that thing will really pop, I seriously dig it.
|
grumpy, you guys look really Beatles in the pictures on the van. But it's an awesome job.
I need a van like that. I think I need a band first. |

Actually, those are the front and back of the jacket on the single that we released a few month back.... to absolutely no fanfare at all! I think we've sold a few dozen, gave away a few hundred. A van is easier to find than a couple of dedicated, like-minded bandmates. Good luck! And blahblah, I'm thinking of simply painting the wheels flat black until the finances recover and I can get some purty, shiny ones. |
It's just odd. Because you don't really sound Beatles, from what I remember.
And yeah, finding bandmates is a trick. I keep thinking I ought to move to the city, but I haven't quite worked up the nerve to take the plunge yet. |

BadNick, more on your Supra!
|
blahblah454,
thanks for asking, bud. But wow!, I have to admit I'm almost obsessed with it so I try not to go so far as to bore others talking about it too much. Hey, a related fact is that I'll be driving my Supra at New Jersey Motorsports Park at a track day on Aug. 5th. Too bad you're not close or you could come watch for free, cruise around the pits, etc...could be fun for a car guy. NJMP is a new track with a couple nice roadcourses that they just built in South Jersey near Millville. This will be my first time driving on it...actually very few people have driven on it so far. I'll be driving on the Thunderbolt track, which is 2.25 miles per lap with a 1/2 mile long straightaway...so I'll be hitting pretty high speeds by the end of that ....hope I don't die. NJMP Track Information If I can get my lazy ass organized, I'll mount my camera in the car and get some incar vids of a few laps...I'll post here of course if I get that. I'll at least have a bunch of still shots and hopefully an interesting report of the day. I'm not sure if I have any good pics that I haven't posted already. I really don't take a lot of pics of it unless something new happens, then I take a couple shots and move on. But there's a car forum where I post that only allowed one picture of your car in the "members rides" section so I made this composite to comply with that rule. I've posted some of these shots before, but here's that composite, a couple of me driving at Pocono, one at Watkins Glen, one on top of the Philadelphia Art Museum steps overlooking the skyline, one inside our shop at work where I stored it for a bit over the winter, and one outside the body shop where I had a couple minor things cleaned up. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...rcollage-1.jpg |
Do you have an in-car cam you plan on using?
|
QM,
I plan on using my Nikon Coolpix 7900. It's mainly a still digi cam, but it can take enough video to record an entire run session at 640X480 pixels and 30 fps video mode and it has electronic vibration reduction and sound recording. I haven't used it for incar yet, but I think it should be OK. I also don't have a cool camera mount yet, but I can use the little single foot camera stand I have and bungee and duct tape it to my passenger side headrest. |
About camera mounts, I bought one of these.
ChaseCam, Your Source for Video at Speed the SM31 Camcorder Window Mount, about half-way down the page It works extremely well. I am confident enough in it that I've stuck it to my roof, trunk lid, back window, etc at speeds up to 100 mph and I think it'd be good for quite a bit more. And of course it also works well inside the car. |
thanks for the advice, bp, that looks pretty good. In fact, it looks so good I may just buy it tomorrow....not that I'm procrastinating, just a final mental review.
|
I am now the proud owner of an S31 camera mount. Thanks, bp.

Me and my camera mount in action.
http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/d.../IMG_2095a.jpg The only thing wrong is the audio is 100% wind noise. The little digital cameras take really good video, but without a remote microphone, it's not as nice as I'd like. I'm giving thought to one of those lipstick cameras with a separate mic. |
I've heard the wind noise problems you're talking about....I wonder if I tape a small hunk of foam rubber right over the mic pickup area on the camera, if that might reduce wind noise...that kind of thing works on big separate microphones.
I'll just update with my ...update: I got the mount today, looks very nice. Thanks, bp. I want to set it up and take a spin to see how it works and to coordinate my button pushing to turn the camera on/off. I think I'm going to slice up one of those hearing protector foam plugs...since that foam density seems to work well to suppress high pitched loud noises (wind?) but still allow transmission of softer sounds and voices...like when I'm humming a sweet lullaby as I drive as fast as I can around the track; so I figure to start with a 1/4" thick slice of that stuff covering up the mic holes on the front of my little digi cam...I thought that I don't want to put a layer of adhesive between the sound holes and the bottom of the foam, so I'll just put a mild glue around the edges. I'll report back. |

LS, good luck with your Saab...it looks real nice.
I had a 9000 turbo a few years ago, it was quite peppy, handled very well in a sporty sort of way...did everything quite well actually; and it had a LOT of room to carry stuff when I folded the rear seats down. |
