Ever think of going domestic? i would so go for the Neon SRT-4, its still got 4 doors, "midsize" enough for me...not a bad warrenty either.

get a madza protege. they are a good bang for you buck. 4 year warranty, reliable, etc.

Any particular reason you picked the leper foreign brands? Suzuki, Kia, Hyundai. Not exactly like Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Honda. Try to stick with those. Can't go wrong with Accord, Camry, Altima, Corolla, Civic, Sentra, Protege, Focus, Neon. The new Mazda6 is pretty cool too. The 4 cylinder clocks in right under 20k.

I'd recommend a 4-cyl Altima

we have a 2002 hyundai sonata gls, and we love it. it has great lines, alot of options, and with the small v6 it has decent power and pretty good on gas milage...

theres only one problem with it though... its value drops very fast. which may not bother you, because you dont plan on selling it, but if you happen to get in a wreck and the car is totalled, then you may end up owing more than youll get from insurance. and there really isnt that good of a history record as say a honda or toyota.

i havent heard that much from the suzuki, except that it looks like an acura. and if you like the sonata, but dont want to pay the price, the optima is the same car - just a different badging and front and rear end...

if you can afford to spend a little more money and think that you are going to have this car for a long time, id look into getting an accord or camary - history shows that those things last forever!

You can talk your dealer into getting you a Mazda6 with the v6 (plenty of power for that sized car) for 20k. Tell him thats your limit, and you want the v6....he'll do it.

Also think about:
Chevy Malibu
Honda Accord
Nissan Altima
Saturn L300
Toyota Camry (used)

All mid-sized cars, can be found new under 20k. Some with less options than other.

If your interested in more options here are some possible and decent smaller cars.
PT Cruiser (i dont like it, some do)
Pontiac Vibe / Toyota Matrix
Toyota Prius....kinda pushes the price though.
Mazda Protoge
VW jetta/golf with little options.

There are a ton of options other than those three you listed that, frankly, will be better options. They will most likely drive better, feel better, and last longer. There are better options from more reliable import brands available. Those are a few cars to think about if you aren't dead set on your options. If you wont budge from your pre-selected few, go test drive them. Take a test drive and get the one that feels and drives that best. All three of those will have decent warranties, so i wouldn't really let that be the deciding factor.

Sorry I have this anti redone muscle car name thing.

But I would go with a srt-4 also. I am definatly not a honda fan by any means but they are a good car for wat they are made for. Reliable, fuel efficient and good priced.

Right now the best cars with great gas mileage and re-sale value after 5 years are Toyota,Honda,Nissan,Mazda.
