Your next project: 86 Vette
So here is my 1986 Vette
Its basically stock with monza mufflers and a throttle body air foil. I've been happy with its quickness in toolin around town for the past 10 years with it until last week. Thats when I was smoked by a supercharged Saleem Mustang(she was a real beauty!). So now I want to make it quicker. I'm planning on adding a cold air induction system with K&N filter, and a Hypertech Chip with a 160 Powerstat. What else would you suggest to give me maximum HP for the buck without going overboard on price? I'm not interested just yet in putting in the time and cost of manifolds/headers

If you have a 305 or 350 engine the most bang for the buck is engine mods! Anything from intake to a camshaft. It's the only true way of getting real horsepower.

Yeah, with a SBC 350 in there, you'll be able to do a lot for a little. Start with the intake system, including manifold, and go all the way to the back of the car, including headers. A cam is a great way to make a lot of power in a hurry as well. Higher ratio rocker arms, a .030" overbore, stuff like that.
Good luck, and have fun!

AFR heads are emissions legal. Does 86 use a roller cam? I know my 86 Olds has one. AFR heads and a roller cam could give some seious powerpotential. Try 500 emissions legal hp on 92 octane. I think you would like that. Oh, and if you want to really go fast, get a ProCharger. 800hp would be possible on a 350 with one of them. If you want good power, the first thing to ditch is the factory exhaust manifolds. Then the heads.

get a new cam and ditch that TPI!
Cam - $200 Holley stealth ram ~ $500 Headers - 300? (actually ive never priced) Worked heads - 400 $ Does anyone know if 86 vettes got the Aluminum L98 heads? If so, they have alot of potential. I wouldent mess with the cold air stuff or the hypertech crap. You can make your own cold air kit for pennies on the dollar and the hypertech stuff does nothing.

Yeah I just bought mine from them about a month ago. I wish I had waited....O wells.
Have you seen the dyno numbers on that intake Gonadman? They are pretty impressive. If you dont have to worry about smog its by far the best intake for your money for our cars. You could check out www.lt1intake.com also, but I think the stealthram flows more. With the stealthram you have to buy the fuel rail kit also, the stock rail will not work. Check out this thread for a plethora of stealthram info http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...ght=holley+faq
