New Wheels?
 

I think it's time for me to trade cars. I've put nearly 60,000 miles on my 2000 Escalade and I need to either trade it off soon or drive it forever. I love this vehicle except for a few things about it that I really hate - It handles really sloppy! It rides great, will go anywhere, and I've basically spent nothing on it other than a set of tires and oil changes. I bought my wife a 2003 Jeep Liberty a few months ago and she loves it - We drove it to Kansas City this past weekend to the Busch/Nascar races anmd other than piss poor fuel mileage its a really nice vehicle - (my Escalade gets better fuel mileage!) I am thinking about going to something smaller - I've looked at the Honda Pilot, Saturn Vue, Nissans, etc and they all appear to be about alike. Any suggestions?

Wow, id love to be able to replace my cars every 60k. It sounds very reliable and i personally would recommend keeping it for a while. I would look into the morano ,or however nissan spells it. It looks like quite a bit of fun plus the CVT in it sounds appealing. If you want something more rugged another jeep would do (grand maybe since you seem to enjoy the creature comforts). If you dont want an SUV necessarily, but something more economical/performance oriented, yet still realatively large, you might look into the pacifica. It looks like quite a bit of fun possibly, though it has the minivan look to it.

im not sure how much you have to spend, but it seems like quite a bit, so maybe look into the BMW X5. i have heard nothing but good things about it, especially in the handling/ride quality department. You own a caddy now and like it, maybe look into their SRX. Its a tad smaller, and according to all the tests i've seen it handles amazingly well. Got the high score amongst luxory SUVs on consumerguide.com as well.


I dont have experience in any of these, but just some to look into.

If a Toyota 4 Runner is in your price range I'd check that out. I know a guy who has one and I love his. I think the Sport edition is about $28,000 and the Limited is about $35,000.

I just bought a 2004 4-runner sport edition last week(~$29K). Rides great. I don't do any towing so I got the V6(V8 optional) and the pickup and power is pretty good.

You may not want something this size, but if you're in the market, your not going to get a better built, more reliable, and rugged SUV in this price range
