Ordered it today!

Finally! The best built pickup truck ever made, and I got mine ordered today. Just like the picture. Only hang-up was the color of the interior, black cloth. Oh well, it got me a good discount.

Nice ride!

Be careful in it on the highways. I've got a relative that rolled one of those things over on dry pavement.

If you're interested, here are a couple of links to Ford info about the truck. The 2004 model is a major redesign, with some awesome improvements.

I drove one, and the engine was outstanding. The road noise was nonexistent. I had a chance to drive it through a grassy ditch, and rolling through, the truck was firm, better than I have ever known( I offroad a lot ), felt better than my old Jeep ever did.

The FX4 comes with standard 5.4L Triton engine,
-3 valves per cylinder
-sequential electronic fuel injection
-electronic distributorless ignition system controlled by EEC-V computer
-300HP @ 5000 RPM
-365 ft lbs torque @ 3750 RPM
-variable cam timing

Sept 30, but I think I may find one elsewhere before then, I don't think I want to wait that long.

I really hate that, the waiting is so bad. When I decide, I want it NOW. I had to wait like 3 weeks for my last car, and it almost killed me.

I hope they improved the safety ratings for an off centered crash. I saw the results the the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety did a few months back and the old F-150 failed BAD.

But other then that...nice looking truck

The add says:

Biggest, Boldest, Strongest, Toughest F-150 Yet

They should have added "Safest" Can't imagine it could do anyworse than the 97-03 model.

I'll take a 2004 Lightning, other than that I could care less about Ford trucks

I really want GM to bring back the Syclone/Typhoon to show Dodge/Ford what a REAL fast truck is I'm thinking the Vortec 5.3L V8 (which is based off the LS1) + twin turbos should do the trick. Hell even bringing back the Turbocharged 4.3 would be awesome. That was a motor with some serious potential.

Be watchful of any upcoming recalls, first year of a major redesign is bound to have at least a couple issues.

I heard that most of the crash safety issues were worked out, but I can't remember where I heard it, so don't quote me on that until I find it

If trucks are your thing, that seems to be the one to get. This new redesign seems to make it quite a bit better too. Congrats on ordering a new truck!

Get a chevy Jk man, nice ride, though I'll always love my 5.7L more I have heard that the 5.4's are a little weaker than the Vortec trucks, but have never actually driven one. Anyone have any experience with both? My 350 has the usual boltons, full length headers, K&N intake, programmer, etc, but nothing internal... wonder how it would stand with one of the new Fords... hmmmm....
