Replacing Motorcycle Exhaust System
Hi!
I have a Yamaha XJ600 SECA II, and I've always been toying with getting performance upgrades. The only manufacturer that makes a full system for my bike is Vance and Hines. Will the cost of the system actually be worth it for the performance increase? I have no idea how much an aftermarket exhaust increases power, and I'd like to hear what kind of performance increase others have experienced. Thank you! |

Take a more balanced approach and you'll realize better gains. As Ducati said, if brusquely, you should look into your jets, and examine your air filter as well. I'm not up on Seca II's, but if you have some wierd airbox choking off air intake, replacing that will help too. You have to have all three balanced though.
As to the "better bike" comment. Ride what you have, so long as you enjoy it. Too many motorcycle elitists out there. |

Yeah, when I got this bike I got it because of it's size, and because of how it looks. I can afford just about any bike I want, but when I bought this one I got such a steal I've decided to keep it for as long as I can. Plus I really like it, great for short tours.

Im not sure about that bike, but I know with jap sports bikes you can make good power increases with a pipe and jet kit. You really need to get both of them, because just a pipe will make the bike run lean. So to make up for that the jet kit will balance it out. More fuel and better flow means more power. I also reckon a louder note helps to let car drivers know that you are there.
