Dumb question for tilted UK
How are the gears laid out on a manual transmission? I assume it's the same as everywhere else in that 1st gear is left and up, etc.
Equally silly question: The gas is still on the right foot and the clutch on the left, yes?

What I remember from driving in Singapore it is the same gear tree and the pedals are the same. You just have to use your left hand for shifting instead of your right and hang your right arm out the window instead of your left.
Also, remember when driving that you keep your side (drivers side) closest to the middle line. My father kept worrying about hitting the passenger side all the time and thus he ended up curbing the car all the time.

There is no fixed pattern.
My car has R__1__3__5 (( neutral )) ___2__4 but my work vehicle has 1__3__5 ((neutral )) 2__4__6__R The pedals always go clutch/brake/accelerator

Like Daniel, I've seen reverse up next to first and down 'below' fifth.
Usually, if reverse is 'up', you also have to push the gear lever down (towards the ground) to engage reverse - it makes it almost impossible to accidentally engage reverse. Reverse next to first was quite common in older 4 speed gearboxes.

sometimes Reverse is on the left side of first, sometimes in the bottom right, but broadly the rest is the same.
135 N 24R or R135 N 24 Some motors have a sixth gear which is opposite 5 if it exists.

My '85 F150 has the 'best' shifter for anybody unfortunate enough to sit in the middle. The shifter gets jammed in your lap for reverse.
