Bahrain GP canceled, Ecclestone tries to reschedule By Adam Cooper | 02/21/11, 11:47 am et The Bahrain Grand Prix is now officially canceled, although it remains to be seen if and when it will be rescheduled later this year. The Formula One season-opener was scheduled for March 13, but civil unrest on the Gulf island has put an end to the possibility of the race running as planned. “We felt it was important for the country to focus on immediate issues of national interest,” Bahrain's Crown Prince said. “Bahrain's priority is on overcoming tragedy, healing divisions and rediscovering the fabric that draws this country together to remind the world of the very best that Bahrain is capable of as a nation once again united.” xoxoxoo:paranoid: |
If the Crown Prince is overthrown I doubt if we'll see F1 at Bahrain again. This race was his pet project.
Hey Bernie, there's a bunch of tracks in Europe that used to host F1 races. |
bring it back to Watkins Glen!!! <<< revolution not expected within the next few years
|
God, the Glen would be awesome. Was there at age 10/1973 (I think that's right) when Cevert died and Jackie Stewart retired on the spot. Went back for the IRL race in 2009. Great track.
Yea, obviously if stability doesn't return to the country, there'll be no GP. I think the teams will be fine with just 19 races. |
Bernie wants it rescheduled to the last race of the year.
Good luck on that. |
