Help me choose some new wheels for my Civic
I've narrowed it down to these four. They're all 17x7", Hyper-black in color, and within $10 of the same price.
Now it's up to you TFPers to help me choose which one I'll buy. <center> http://www.projectbigbrother.com/images/cars/1.jpg http://www.projectbigbrother.com/images/cars/2.jpg http://www.projectbigbrother.com/images/cars/3.jpg http://www.projectbigbrother.com/images/cars/4.jpg |
if you had a more muscular car (like a camaro or mustang) i'd pick 1 or 2, but I think that 3 or 4 would look better on a Honda.. (i went w/ 4 cause it looks clean and not over done)
I vote 1!
either 1 or 4 i voted 1 but they are both pretty good lookin...
I say 1. My brother, who happens to be looking over my shoulder, says 1. I don't think 4 would look bad, but I like the forked 5-spoke design.
I'm a big fan of 5 spokes and I liked the look of #2 :)
I'd go for #4
I've seen these on a friends R-type and they,re wicked |
my vote is no.1 ;]
if one wouldnt be there i'd go for no.4 then |
1 for sure....3 is the ugliset i think
#3. Kinda depends on what style you're going for though.
1
2 is okay but 1 is better 3 is not right for your car 4... too much like every other 10 spoke civic out there |
I voted 1. I dont like how the spokes on #4 taper off towards the edge. I would have gone #4 if the spokes were just straight.
This site may help! www.modifymycar.com |
1 or 2 would be my choice
#3 because it is the most unique. there are a lot of wheels similar to 1, 2, and 4 out there.
I'd get 2. Hidden lugs look best.
I think 1 would be cool.
End User, that site is pretty sweet. I think that #1 is going to be the winner. :)

Number 3 is what I would go with but who knows what they look like on the car.
I think 3 would look good on my truck:) Just 17 inch |
Not only will that slow your car down acceleration wise but it will look to big, you shouldnt go any bigger than 16"
speaking strictly in terms of which wheel I like best, I vote for #3. However, as art mentioned, on a Civic, I dont think 17 (or even 16) inch wheels look right. Personally, I wouldnt invest that much money in wheels for a car like a Civic.
Also, in order to fit the tire/rim combo in the wheel-well, you'll likely be going with some really low profile tires, correct? probably 50's, right? Keep in mind that extreme low profile tires like that will make the vehicle's ride very rough. Tires are part of the suspension system, and as such, they perform some of the same function as shocks/struts, ie absorbing the assorted bumps/shocks of the road. Low profile tires, because they have short, stiff sidewalls and less air (by volume) in them, do not absorb much in the way of road shock. Now granted, the car will handle more like a true sports car with them, but the trade off is a rough ride. just a friendly warning from a former tire salesman. |
Thanks, Sion, but I wasn't born yesterday and I know plenty about the affects of low-profile tires and how shocks work. In fact, I already have coil-over shocks with incredibly stiff springs and I love the way my car handles. The tires are actually 40-series, and have 3.38" sidewalls which is plenty. Right now I already run 15" wheels on 50-series Pirellis with 4" sidewalls. As far as spending money on wheels for a Civic, WTF is your point? I bought the car because I planned to keep it until I'm an old man, not so I could re-sell it once I got bored with it. Also, in a couple years--maybe less--I plan to move up to 18" wheels with 35 or 40-series tires under flared fenders.
I ended up going with choice #1, but in silver instead of black; they look much better. |
I think #4 is the most flattering for a car like that, the smooth lines of the wheel will compliment your black civic (it was black, right?). I don't like hidden lug nuts. Also, don't civics have 4 lug hubs, or did they change that? If so, hoping these are available in 4 lug, all the pictures are 5. :)
#1. But I would put in larger brakes to fill in the gap.
I voted 2, and I'm pleased you don't agree.
Which is the lightest? I put heavy wheels on my old MR2, and hated it.
Mill raises a good point. Light wheels are crucial! Big heavy wheels will slow you down way more than you would imagine.
That aside, I'd go for number 4, no question. |
#3 please. They are definitely the nicest. Although on a civic I would probably choose some smaller (but still nice looking) rims. I guess I'm a lonely breed.
Good choice with number 1..............but maybe you should have bought the real ones.........Advan rims ownz! :D
Oh, you already chose. I feel so stupid now. Good luck with your car anyways. :)
I'm a fan of the simplicity of #1. Always like to keep it simple when it comes to rims.
One is nice indead, it gave me idears to put some weels on my MX6 :)
I like #3, but go with the lightest one, whichever it is.
i was thinking of some wheel like that you've posted, but with a machined lip to it.. what do you think about those?
i went with #3,.. i like a little bit of lip on wheels, and fwd's need a little to look good to me. |
1 or 4
I've got a 98 accord v6 and i'm looking at some wheels almost identical to #1 |
you probably already know this but...make sure you get rims with a 4-bolt pattern (the pics of 1-3 are 5-bolt).
I just gotta go with one, it has the best overal look, and its more unique than the others :) Pimp dat shit!
Number 1 is the go.........
