Classic Chevy vs. Chrysler battle at HMB between Jim McLennan and Garlits-Swingle (1961); starter was flag man extraordinaire Andy Brizio. Note: "Big Daddy's" autograph scrawled across the tire smoke.

I took this pic of one of the 2011 Philadelphia Flower Show displays but does anyone know what car this is?
Earlier today I sat in this Spyker...very cool, beautifully constructed car although I doubt I'd buy one even if I could afford it. |

Hey I took a cruise today and stumbled upon a car show in the middle of Ambler PA. One of the organizers came over to tell me how "beautiful" my car was and I should join in the show next year when they have a Japanese car section. Here's two pics of street rods I liked since they had some creative, unusual fabrication:

A car is completely covered in volcanic ash in San Carlos de Bariloche, southern Argentina, Sunday June 5, 2011. The Puyehue volcano, dormant for decades, erupted in south-central Chile on Saturday. The wind carried ash across the Andes to Argentina, dusting this tourist town which had to close its airport. (AP Photo/Alfredo Leiva) |

The history of Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth police cars [Read of Interest ; Image Gallery] -- to note: Could any one of us seek to discern the make/model of the above? At first, I was glimpsed with the idea that the above rear view was that of a late 60s/early 70s Plymouth Fury Interceptor Special, but that is just a wild guess (and scrolling through a gallery of the 1970s editions of the vehicle, apparently, it's none too bright a guess, either).

I was at the local Toyota dealer earlier to drop off my car for service, and the franchise owner was again displaying his Toyota 2000GT, which is a very rare, valuable, and in many ways, a great car. The first few pics with it roped off are from today, the last couple are another time when they let me get a close look at it in the shop:

Thanks for sharing the gallery, BadNick.
Along with the 240 S/ZX series, (originally manufactured by Datsun/Nissan) the Toyota 2000GT is one of my all-time beloved automotive reminiscents of the 60-80s Japanese imports era. -- (to note: If the owner were to drive his car every now and then, would it be fine for him to do so with just the rear license plate?)

I believe that the car in the picture is a prop from the film MadMax. I found this trivia at IMDB "The car that Max drives (the "last of the V8 interceptors") is a production car, the Ford "XB Falcon Coupe", sold in Australia from December 1973 until August 1976. The car in the film had a standard 351 cubic inch (5.75 litre) V8 motor."

You are awesome, Zweiblumen.
(Now wonders if self is anti-awesome, given the fact I have not watched more than five minutes total of the film Mad Max.)

I bet bobby has owned at least one of these. I spotted this Morris Minor earlier today near home:
which reminded me that I should hunt down a decent one, clean it up and use it for a fun daily driver. So I spent the last hour scouring the interwebz for Morris Minors. Didn't find one to buy yet, but here's some pictures for our mutual Morris Minor appreciation day: |
