guess my avitar
Take a look at my avitar and see if you can tell what make and model it is.
First hint: it was made from 1979-83 |
AMC Spirit
|
good one tech ... you are right. I guess my hint made it too easy. Mine is a '83 Spirit GT ... kin to the Eagle SX4 but not AWD like the SX4
|
I have always thought those eagle 4x4's looked kind of cool. I don't think I would want to own one, but for some reason they always appealed to me. How rare are these cars? Both yours and the eagle 4x4
|
In 1983 American Motors made less that 5000 cars between the Concord sedan, wagon & Spirit models I do believe. I looked up the numbers about 2 or more years ago.
So lets break it down ... lets say that about 3K Spirits were made in 1983. Mine is a GT so that might be about 1500 GT's ... mine is a 4.2L inline 6cly w/ auto. So by the time you break it down to color & stuff I have one of about 200 or less. American Motors was bought out by Chrystler in 1987 just so Chrystler could obtain the Jeep line of vehicles & 1987 was the last year for the Eagle part of AMC. I live in GA and AMC's are rare in the south. Most of the cars remain up north where the AMC plants were. The main plant being in Kenosha, Wi. A little AMC info for ya. |
Sweet thanks for that! I always loved the AMC's well not the pacer but that's another story haha..
I am in Canada so AMC's are VERY rare. |
well... the year numbers was more of a confirmation of what i thought... what "gave it away" was the hood. no one else has a hood with that "V" bulge at the nose.
|
good point about the hood tech ... people ask me all the time "What is that?" "Is it a Mustang?" I just get a good laugh ... I have it up in storage now & I am thinking about selling it
