Letting My V8 Miata go on E-Bay Grief Counseling please

Had to put my baby up fo sale. Anyone else have to get rid of one of his/her object of affection. See my baby as she sits on e-bay she is a V8 Miata w/ Ford 5.0 and T5 %-Speed transmission. Any suggestions for adequate replacement, i.e. Convertible w/ room for wife and kids - - that is not tooooo boring? thanks Mike

We're letting this one stand because there won't be a link to the auction placed in the thread and he's asking for advice on a replacement. In other words, this doesn't seem to be spam.

It's a shame you're having to get rid of such a car. BMW's 3-Series convertibles have some power and great suspension. Well maintained, they last a long time, so a used one would be a good option too. In the cheaper realm there's the Mustang, or if you don't mind FWD something like a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Oh hell, what a travesty to sell. I was just watching a few STOCK LS1/2 swaps into Miata yesterday burn up the roads. Amazing power in such a little car.

My recommendation is a used 2004-2009 RX-8. Has the same transmission as the Miata, incredible weight distribution/handling because of rotary mid-engine, and has "freestyle doors", allowing 4 seats, 4 doors in a sports car. Very fun to drive, very comfortable.

I looked at this and thought "what the hell's a Miata?"

I now realise it's a thread about an MX-5.

As a Mazda driver (sadly only a 6) I would recommend the RX-8, just on looks and te fact it's got the cool half suicide doors for the back seats.

If you want a small fun car that seats 2+2, you could do a LOT worse than a Renault Megane Coupe Cabriloet - as much fun as a basket of kittens and almost as pretty.

Our MX-5's are called Miatas and we don't have Renaults over here any more, unfortunately.

I dunno, I looked it up on ebay, and it's too much of a project car. More like an Ugly Betty Season 4.

Probably too much of a pig on gas

This one would be slower, but lots of fun.
