the ruler's back!
Its till the end of the season. Schumacher is a lot of things, but amongst them he is a proud man and no dummy - he wouldnt have agreed to this if he didnt think he could compete. (which for Michael that means compete for poles and wins) I dont like the guy, but cant deny his talent and that this is a great boost to the sport. __ But the big story is still Massa... he will probably never race again (from what Ive read his vision will never be ok again), but it looks like he is out of danger... the first couple of days after I didnt think he'd survive. One of the most horrible accidents Ive seen, and it actually shows how incredible the safety standards are in these cars that he wasnt killed outright... although I think in his last conscious actions he was able to take some of the speed off the car which also must have played a part in saving his life.

Maybe, Micheal tested this week and it was an illegal test.

At the end of the day, he knows enough to tell if he isnt going to be able to come back and compete - and if he wasnt, and I can only guess he now he believes he isnt - he doesnt want to come back on those terms. Its disappointing but fair play to him. One of the hardest calls to make is to look deep inside yourself and realise (for whatever reason- rustiness, age, fitness, neck injury) that you're not up to it.
I'd rather this than watch him go round a second off the pace for a few races and THEN dop out.

I wonder how much had to do with pride, if he couldn't dominate and race at the same level as he did previously maybe he didnt want to come back and risk damaging his legacy.

Now he might race at a later date if his neck gets better. People are upset that Baduer (sp?) got picked instead of Gene. Fernando might fill the seat by the end of the season. The F1 silly season is even sillier than usual this year.

If I repeat myself, I think one of the hardest things any man (let alone a great man) can do is look deep inside himself and know in his heart he isnt up to the job and call it quits. Schumacher aged 50 could get in a car and go round a second off the pace, and Schumi today to get into that car and go round in 10-15 But he has no interest in that.. if he isnt in with a chance to win, he was never going to come back. I think he took a long hard look at himself, the car, his fitness, everything else - and didnt think he could win a race this season, and on those terms he said "forget it"... I say fair play to him The greatest driver in my lifetime will probably always be Senna, Schumi is a close second.
