First I started with the 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. Sexy car. Wish I hadn't given it up. Everything else is a downgrade from there on.
2001 Chevrolet Malibu was by far the ugliest car I have ever owned. Never again, chevrolet, never again. 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue is what I call a working car. Sure, it's made out of plastic all around but I pay nothing for it and I got it dirt cheap. It has all the practicality GM intended the cheap material it's made out of to be for and good gas mileage, what can I say ... I love it. 1. 2. 3. Last edited by Xerxys; 07-18-2009 at 11:32 AM.. |

'89 Buick Skylark-- Lucille
'88 Chevy Corsica -- Lucinda '89 Chevy Celebrity-- Layla '97 Lincoln Continental -- Lola Next is hopefully a Wrangler, but will most likely be a pickup. Either Linda or Lita for a name... Ohhhhh, why I got rid of them. They all broke, to the point where it was cheaper to get another car than to fix what happened.. Except for Lola, but I get the feeling she won't be truckin' for much longer.

'75 Chevy Monte Carlo (white) - was stolen
'77 VW Rabbit (bright sky blue) - traded in for something, can't remember '79 Chrysler Sapporo (metallic gold) - bought this from my dad but don't remember what happened next '86 Mazda 626 (charcoal gray) - I'd probably still have it if some idiot in a parking lot didn't drag him across a parking lot when she hit the gas instead of the brake to park facing him. Loved that car. '90 Plymouth Sundance (black cherry) - Hated it and traded for storage for my future batch of kids. '92 Dodge Caravan (red) - Did the job but wanted a new car. '00 Isuzu Rodeo (sorta red) - Totally totalled. It was good to us though. 04" Hyundai Elantra (navy blue) - He's been good and kept us safe so far. I may be off a year or two on some and I reserve the right to edit if I eventually recall what's missing. Getting old is a bitch sometimes.

'73 Ford Pinto station wagon. I beat the shit out of that car. Overheated the engine and retired it.
'80 Plymouth Champ. Lost the clutch and couldn't afford in those days to fix it right. We needed cash, sold it for far less than what it was worth. '79 Chevy Chevette. Came with the wife. We would alternate driving this and the Champ depending on which one cost less to fix at the time. It got sold with the Champ. '86 Dodge Aries. Heaping pile of shit this thing was. But we kept it on the road from '87 until '93. It had four doors and served us well enough with three small boys. '88 Dodge Ram 50. Good little truck. Kept it untill '95. Wish I still had it. '93 Ford Aerostar minivan. Traded the Aries in on this. Not too sexy, but a good wagon. Served us well until '99. '95 Ford Probe. Not a bad little car. Being an adult and maintaining it and driving like an adult it lasted me until '07. It needed some minor engine work when I traded it in, but it was still in very good condition. '99 Ford Expedition. I still have this vehicle and it is going strong. I wouldn't hesitate to take it cross country if needed. As it seats eight we use it often for taking the whole family out. '99 Ford Ranger. This is what the boys drove while they were home before they bought their own vehicles. Two of the boys wrecked it and the third was equally hard on it. I still have it though and it is my daily driver. '06 Mazda RX8 Shinka. Mostly a weekend driver. I'll keep this car for a long time as I have the previous two vehicles.

1965 Pontiac Le Mans convertible – Only had it 3 months; crashed on black ice into a tree
1965 Pontiac Le Mans 4-speed; Gawd that 326 was a great engine! 1973 VW Super Beetle, the only new car I’ve ever bought. Couldn’t pay for body damage done by others, so had to trade to my sister for a 1965 Pontiac Tempest, lent to friend’s brother, he totaled it. 1968 Buick Riviera, traded in for 1974 Pontiac Catalina – a true Land Boat. Sold to a friend’s sister. 1982 Dodge Swinger. Bought from my Mom, sold it within a year. 1972 MGB. Loved it; hated its entire brittle electrical system, though. Sold it before all the wires broke off. 1986 Buick Century. Hated it – after a year, traded for 1990 Isuzu Pickup. Sold it cause we thought one car was enough. Not true. Ended up buying a 1994 Buick Century (I know . . . I know) After 6 months, traded for 1996 Ford Ranger. Great little truck. Drove it for 7 years. 1995 Mercury Sable. Blew the engine moving 1300 miles after mechanic changed oil and didn’t tighten the filter. Traded for a 1993 Ford Explorer XLT – great dog-hauler – loved all the options. Traded for a 2002 GMC Envoy – still have it, and love it (bad city mileage, though) After 6 years, it just rolled over to 50,000 miles 2005 Chrysler Sebring Touring convertible. Currently for sale – been laid off 7 months now and don’t need two vehicles (or the $300/mo. payment)

Too many cars to remember and list here, since I've been driving since 1975.
I will say, however, that every single Ford, or GM vehicle I've ever owned has been junk. Nowadays, we only buy Toyota, Honda or Subaru. There's a lot to be said for a car that starts everytime you turn the key, mile after mile. |

1974 Vauxhall Viva - a junkheap that I learned to drive on, lasted one year. It was blue on the outside, but the back doors were green on the inside. The pinstripe on the left was gold, and on the right was black.
1975 Renault 12 Estate - another junk heap. It was white, except for the front left wing which was dark green. Lasted 3 years. 1984 Renault 9 - in gold. Lasted a couple of years. 1987 Peugeot 309 - white. Drove it for a year, and gave it to my then wife. 1987 Rover 216 Gti Vitesse - in black. The first car I bought that was in decent order and cost more than a handful of change. This was the first car I took out a loan for. 1994 Rover 620i - in slate grey. The first nearly new car I ever had (I bought it when it was just 4 years old). It was lovely, but following a minor accident that left several body panels scratched (but not bent) was deemed to be too expensive to repair by my insurance company, who gave me a cheque for the residual value. 1997 Renault Megane Scenic in Maroon. I bought this for my wife to use, and gave it to her when we divorced. I kept the house. I heard later that she'd given it to her boyfriend shorlt before cheating on him and slitting up - I guess it was easier for her to make him leave when he had something to take his stuff in. 2001 Renault Megane Coupe 1.6l also in slate grey. Lovely car, destroyed by a drunk Irishman crashing a truck into a row of parked cars outside my house 2 seconds after I told my current wife that if there really was a God he'd give people obvious signs of his existence. 2000 Renault Megane Coupe 1.4l in silver. Bought with the insurance money from the wreck of the above. 2003 Mazda 6 TS - my current car.

60-something Triumph ... meant to restore it, never road worthy
'67 Dodge Dart... totaled out from under me by a hit-and -run '65 Chrysler Newport 2 door.... loved that land yacht! '67 Chevy Impala 2 door.... loved it! When my sister couldn't make her payments, I swapped it to her for her... '72 Chevy Nova ... nice car, nice power, totaled by my wife 2 months after we got married '77 Chrysler Cordoba... great riding car, lean burn engine control totally sucked '69 Chevy Impala... ran like the proverbial raped ape! '70 Pontiac Bonneville... too many repairs, got rid of quickly '78 Ford Country Squire... another endless series of repairs '76 Chevy G10... great for hauling amps and drums '78 Cadillac Coupe de Ville... pretentious elegance... I loved it '88 Plymouth Horizon... bowing to practicality '86 Buick Century... I kinda liked that car... stolen and stripped '89 Dodge Dynasty... electrical nightmares '95 Pontiac Transport... pretty cool for a minivan, and that 3.8 could really scoot! '96 Dodge Caravan... a real come down after the Transport, but this workhorse covered most of the US east of the Mississippi 2000 Chevy Express... The Romeo Flynns' rolling billboard I've got a nagging suspicion I'm forgetting some.

My first was a 1976 Malibu Classic. It was maroon and the gas gauge didn't work. I had to keep track of my mileage.
-1986 Pontiac 6000 2-door that had a $150 paint job from Earl Scheib. - 1982 Volkswagon Vanagon. It had the air cooled engine and very little heat. I kept ice scrapers in it so we could scrape the inside of the windows. Because of the van I was "the transporter" in college and made some cash here and there, but if I got too many people in there with the cold weather the inside of the windows would frost over. - 1982 Chevy Conversion van that I lost when a tree fell on it during a hurricane. - 1994 Ford Escort. I felt like I was always driving a clown car. - 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSE. This was red and loaded with every option I could have imagined. Heated leather seats, 6-disk CD changer, sun roof, heads up display, etc. It had 80,000 miles on it when I got it but the body and interior was in fantastic shape. It made it to 140k miles before the transmission went out and I traded it in. - 1998 Ford Explorer Sport. I still have this, but mainly just drive it back and forth to work. I've been looking at getting another VW Van, just haven't found the right one yet. I'd like to find one that needs some body/interior work but is mechanically sound. I'd enjoy doing the body work myself and getting it just the way I want. |

Man, I guess I'm a long term commitment kind of guy. In 15 years of driving, I've only ever owned two cars...
1989 Chevy Beretta GT - Bought it in 1995 when I was 17, traded it in 2003 with about 175k on the clock. It was still a pretty good car, but it had lots of minor problems. 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT - Got 137k on it so far. I'm starting to get the itch for a new car, but it'll be a while yet before I do anything about it. I'm thinking my next car will be something other than a mid-sized American V6 coupe, for a change. |

93 Ford Escort - Drove it until the end of its life, and that was only at 95K miles. The odometer didn't even have a space for 100k. 02 Dodge neon - Still keeping it running at 73K.

83 Honda Civic- I loved this car. The transmission went out, had it replaced, didn't work still so traded it in for a
97 Saturn SL- Good car with good mileage, switched the title to my sister when my parents gave me a 96 Dodge Intrepid- It has 185k miles on it but has finally started to die. I would love to replace it with a newer Intrepid but they stopped making them in 2002 or 2003.
