Wait a sec... is today the annual 24 Hours at Le Mans?

Oh, man, just did a quick check on the net, and it is! 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans
I thought the race was held in late June, and I as was flipping around the tube, I was a bit surprised to see it in coverage.

Well, I've only missed about a third of the race so far, so for those that like endurance and/or historically prestigious races, tune in now!

ColdTrackDays: BEFORE THE STORM // SPOTTER GUIDE & LE MANS PREVIEW

Just released, check out this Spotter Guide for the 77th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A quick reference for those who find themselves a bit confused with all of the classes, drivers and chassis builders, Spotter Guides are a great way to figure out just who is driving that LMP1 Audi R15 or which Ferrari it is that Patrick Dempsey will be piloting when the green flag waves tomorrow afternoon. (at this exact moment)

It's already started to get dark.

Pugs knocked off the Audis. Audi scaled back their racing in preparation this year and paid the price. Will be interesting to see how they rebound.

Wow, I wasn't expecting a reply at all; something about my recent history in created threads. Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in having an affinity for the legendary race that defined eras and made champions.

I'm just sorry for those that had to sit through some of the inordinate and arbitrary commentary provided by Speed. It was nice at the start, but cutting to another talking head every 20 minutes during the entire broadcast was inexcusable. If you had and/or have the chance to follow it online, simulcasting is truly the best way to enjoy the action short of actually making the trip and watching in person live. For those that are interested, the original wikipedia link in my OP has been updated with the results of each class winner, and the overall Le Mans Prototype (Prix) champion of this past weekend. There was even a spec-controversy prior to the race that I was not aware of, and they made veiled attempts to inform the public about it through the broadcast, but not really directly.

I missed the start and only was able to join the broadcast later in the day over the internet. I do have to give big props to Speed for streaming the video while they were covering NASCAR. That was a huge improvement over years past and it worked flawlessly. I don't mind Speed's announce team usually but didn't see the beginning, only the last two hours and thought that was OK.

I have friends that have gone to this race a few times and are planning to go next year. If I weren't out of a job, I'd be making plans to go along with them. I really want to do this race someday.
