Broken shock? Strut? Axle? Hand of God?
My trusty car has a problem. The car:
1997 Acura Integra GSR 4-door Front Wheel drive Manual Transmission 155,000 miles The car occasionally lurches to one side as if I am being buffeted by a strong wind. This happens at speeds of 70MPH +. When? When I am on a rough surface ESPECIALLY on grooved pavement - turning or going straight. Tires are fairly new with good tread and properly inflated. Also, when I take banked turns on the highway at speeds between 70 and 90MPH, the car feels like it is sort rolling... tilting too much and getting pressed down as if by a strong wind (or the hand of God). The wheels are slightly out of alignment and the car pulls a little to the right, but that should not be causing this. Any ideas? I don't know what to investigate. |
struts are probably worn out. any odd noises along with this?

maybe Elijah is sitting in the car with you.

No new noises.
I set a place for Elijah, but he never showed up. My mechanic will take a look tomorrow. His notes say "disable automatic lane-change device." My mechanic is funny. |
Grab a tire, shake as hard as you can. If there is any play in the wheel as a whole you probably have a bad ball joint. Easy fix, and cheap.

the alignment can in fact cause this. Get the car aligned.

I once took my car to the mechanic with the complaint, "It shimmies at 80+". His response: "Why are you doing 80???" |
