If you want some non-professional review, check out www.cheersandgears.com It is a GM enthusiast website and I know for a fact that one member just posted a new review of the Vibe the other day. Most people aren't impressed with it. It is underpowered.

I've never owned one but I can just about guarantee you it will be dependable. It is a vehicle built in the NUMMI plant in California. This plant is operated jointly by GM and Toyota. The drivetrain is all Toyota. The same as it's Toyota sibling the Matrix. The Chevrolet Prizm was built on this line. I sold them and loved doing so because the customers never had any problems with them. Can't tell you if it's underpowered or not but a test drive will answer that. Good luck!

We own a couple of them as delivery vehicles. Our drivers LOVE 'em. Handle really well, not as underpowered as you might think, and LOT'S of interior space. My boss bought one as a family ride. He's 6'4", and has 2 sons almost as big. All ride comfortably.
I borrowed one for one-day trip (4 hours each way). I'm 6'5" and had plenty of legroom. I didn't get tired driving, averaged over 70 mph and 33 mpg. These cars are not the GT's. Those could only be better. I recommend the Vibe highly!

Get the GT with stick. The VVTi-L motor is great with the 6-speed. You gotta wind it up to the 8200 redline to get the power out of it. 180hp when the motor hits lift.
The whole car except for the interior is designed by Toyota. The Dash is GM and is the only bad thing about the car. Lots of squeaks and the Delco stereo sucks ass. I own a Toyota Matrix XRS and I love it. Only problem has been a few sqeaks. I don't pretend it's going to beat a some V8 Mustang, but its quick enough for a 4 cylinder station wagon. There is also lots of stuff coming out if your into modifing your car. TRD sells CAI's, exhausts, springs, sway-bars, quickshifter, coilovers, ect. Lot's of spring companies lower the car from 1.5" to 3.0" In six months or so there will be a supercharger out from GM and Toyota. It's for the base engine. It should bump horsepower to 175 and torque 170. ![]() There's also a new sports package coming out, but I don't like the wing. ![]() |
