CarFax Help! Getting screwed by a dealership after 3 months!!

Hey guys, I heard that some of you have Carfax sub's and might be able to help a poor guy out who is getting screwed.

Here is the story.

I bought a car at the end of September from a place called DealerOne, some little place here in Oklahoma City. Paid bluebook value for my car, and felt that I got a pretty good deal. Problem is, a month after my buying my car (and setting up payment through the bank) I had not received my title, and my paper tag was running out of time. So I called, and he sent me a new paper tag for an extra month (which expired nov 20th). When Nov 20th came around I called DealerOne to ask why I haven't seen my title yet. He told me there was a problem with the signature down in Texas, and they would have it straightened out soon. So I asked him to send me another paper tag (which I hear is illegal), but I never got it. So now it's Jan 3rd, and I can't get a hold of anyone there. I figure that he was never allowed to sell me the car since the title wasn't in the dealers name, and I'm afraid to keep making payments to the bank (im now past due), because I'm afraid the car is stolen, or there is a big problem with it.

I figured maybe someone with a carfax account could check my VIN number, and do me a HUGE solid. I'm just wanting to know whats going on, and get any info on my car before I go report their ass to the various Oklahoma Car Commissions that are available to me. I want to be able to have them pay for any fines I might have accrued from not registering my title after the first month I bought the car. So yeah, I'm getting pretty worried and stressed out, so any advice or CarFax help would be so great. My VIN number is JTDBR32E932015596. It's a 2003 Toyota Corolla Silver.

UPDATE: Their website is freaking dead http://www.dealeroneautogroup.com/

And I just called again, and still on one will answer, just rings and rings.

Keep paying the bank until things are resolved. Unfortunately, I don't have a carfax account to check for you. I'm fairly certain the bank will want their money until this thing is resolved, no matter what.

Sounds like you got royally screwed. :-(

The good news, if there is any, is that the bank got screwed too. They actually own this title-less car until you complete paying the loan back. So they're on your side. Get them involved, and start screaming real loud to the Car Commission. I don't really know why you'd have to wait for the carfax history before doing that... Sounds to me like the sooner you notify the bank, the sooner you can get them in action resolving it.

Good Mr. robot is right, though--to keep them on your side, you should stay current on the loan until they tell you that you can do otherwise. If not, they're out on BOTH sides of the loan rather than just one, and you become their other enemy.

I'll check with people I know tomorrow to see if anyone who works at a dealership has an open carfax account. If you're getting this badly screwed, you need to document everything, let the bank know what's going on, and get ready to go to court when the shit hits the fan.

I agree. Keep paying the bank and don't get behind. Titles can be a real pain sometimes. In spite of everything being done correctly, sometimes it just takes quite a long time to get the title straightened out. I feel like the folks at the state title office are working for pretty low wages and unfortunately you get what you pay for. Stay on top of the title issue and rock on as best you can.

IckUber... ugh, I don't envy you at all. I just bought a vehicle and had to wait a week for the title also. I can't imagine what you're going through at the moment.

Anyway, I've been trying to do some research for you... Steve Sweis is registered as the contact for the dealer domain and he lives (or did) there in Oklahoma City...

You should go talk to the bank right away... they may well run the CARFAX report for you. The report will show previous title numbers and states to assist in tracking down the current information.

Sorry I can't help more...

Please do not post someone's personal information in a thread, even if it is in the public domain. At the least it's rude and at worst it could be harrassment.

I understand the no harassment part (which none occurred) and can understand not posting private information. However, in this case it was neither and was simply a posting of publicly available information - really no different than posting the dealership name and phone numbers as has occurred in this thread... no court U.S. would argue that what was posted was anything other than public information that can be freely repeated.... so, what is the problem and what now?

May I post a link to the public information? Understand, I'm only trying to help someone out who is getting reamed.

Thanks!

Let's start with the fact that it's in the TFP rules. Check out Section I, Item J. So, no, you can't link to the information. We don't allow that.

All you've done is given the name of the person, address and phone number that owns the website and may or may not work for the dealership. Their connection to the transaction is tenuous at best.

I appreciate that you're trying to help, but the help you're offering is 1) a violation of board policy, 2) not really all that helpful. Please don't repost it and make me be the bad guy over something like this.

In the future, you may want to reply to the PM I sent you about this so that I don't have to be mean in public.

The system didn't notify me that I had a PM, so I didn't know that I had one... regardless, public is fine with me.

Likewise, no need to be mean... you'll note that I didn't repost and sought clarification of the rules to make sure I didn't inadvertently break them (again).

No response necessary... it's quite unlikely that I'll be back. I found this thread doing a search and tried to be helpful. Based on the heavy-handed rules and approach to moderation, any interest I might have had in your community is now quite vanquished. No hard feelings... just not my kind of place and I respect that you want to keep it your kind of place.

Have a good one...
