Wife buying a new car???
Wife is going to buy a new car in the next 6 months and currently has a 97 Dodge Stratus. She wants another four door midsize car Under $20,000. What do you all thinks is the best car for us with a good amount of rear seat for possible Kids in the near future.
Let me know your opinions. P.S. has to come in an automatic. |

4-silly Honda Accord sedan. Talk with the dealer about it, drive one, talk more and insist on seeing their invoice. You can buy one really cheap and they are great cars. Your MPG will be great and it is a very safe car.
Don't forget to try out a few other cars too, the altima (watch out, every 2.5 engine has been recalled though), camry, malibu and focus hatchback are all options that should fit. Look closely at the GM's as they have a great financing offer and rebates available i believe... find what fits your budget well and go for it! |

Either the 4-cyl Altima, or the Mazda 6...if you can get the V6...get it. Same with the Altima. That Nissan is big on the inside. I've not been in the new 6 yet.
EDIT: solkanar112...where did you get that the 4-cyl Altima's are being recalled? This is news to me, and I work at a Nissan dealer. Just curious. What is the recall about?

It might be a little small for your needs, but I'd have her check out the new Honda Civic Hybrid.
I bought one 2 months ago. I absolutely love it. It is extremely smooth to drive. You cannot feel the transmission change gears. It accelerates very nicely. It looks like a real car because it is built on the Honda Civic body. And to top it off, it gets over 40 miles to the gallon. I keep a car seat in the back for my grandchildren and there's plenty of room for us. You'd have to judge if it would fit for you, but it's worth a look.

How about a Toyota Camry? I know someone with one, it rides really nice, and yotas last forever. I'd have to say that the engineering on some of toyota's older models (like ones with the 22R/22RE engine) is just amazing. You can beat them and they just keep on going and going and going....

So SAFTEY has to come first. Go get a new Accord LX automatic. You should be able to pick one up for a couple of hundred over invoice and after taxes still come under 20K OTD. Some are going to say get a Camry.......I say horseshit....they overbulid their cars and have steadily cheapened them each model since 1996.

Most of the cars mentioned here are kind of small for all the crap you need to lug with a kid or two. I would go larger than those cheap altima's. I went from an SUV to a brand new Chevy Impala LS. Almost as big as a crown vic inside but not huge outside and in no way a boat. New LS is about $24-25k but get one a year old and it will be below your 20k. Drive the impala and you will see that it is a heck of a lot for the money. 5 star safety too.
If you look into used luxury cars there are some SERIOUS bargains out there. They are offering such deals trying to sell the new ones that the used ones are going for next to dirt. A buddy of mine just bought a creampuff 300M with 20k miles for $13k. This is a $35k car new (was). |

Thanks guy for the suggestion but it lookslike we can only afford a Used car for Under $13000 because of the money owed on our current car. Any suggestions for a good used sedan for us and it has to beable to fit an adult in the back seat.
Thanks guys
