Bozo the clown pimps his rides
This Bozosoku style seems like it might be so rooted in Japanese culture and mentality that I find not many Americans or Europeans appreciate it for what it is. I love this stuff but IMO you have to take it in context I'm curious about TFP carguys' and gals' comments
Here's a link with a bunch to see: http://tanetane92.web.infoseek.co.jp/20050116tas2.html ...and here are a couple nice examples to wet your appetite hopefully not make too many throw up. |

while I don't want to drive it... I've always been fascinated by it...

There's no way that can be road legal?
I can appreciate the work that's gone into it all, but it just looks too extreme to be something I'd want to be seen driving.

I too appreciate the labor and the engineering but no way would I be seen in public in any of those. I'm an antique and classic kind of guy.

Google didn't have a translation for "Bozosoku." Is it an Anime thing?

I'm glad it got the interest of some of you and thanks for your comments for better or worse. Obviously this stuff does not have "practical" anywhere in the equation, it is all "art" and "show". Some people only like Raphael, some only like Jackson Pollack, some like both or neither. I usually think of automotive transformers when I see bozosoku ...not electrical transformers of course, the car turning into a robot kinda thing so it can protect Tokyo from another Godzilla or alien invader attack; or maybe alien invaders came here and made these. I think there is a link to anime, but I'm no expert on this, just a casual observer.

ahhh, I like that; the George Barris connection is a good idea. It reminded me so I looked at Big Daddy Ed Roth too http://www.ratfink.org/vehicles/index.html
