if you could only own ONE car...
if you could own ONE awesome car, aside from your daily driver, grocery getter,
whatever, you can keep your accord or your explorer or whatever... i mean one car of pure excess... what would it be? decisions, decisions... for me i think it would have to be the '58 Ferrari 250 testarossa, i have NEVER tired of looking at this car, and surely it's a blast to drive (i've never been lucky enough to get behind the wheel of one, but how many have??)

My answer would likely be different every day I was asked..
Right now, I'd go with a 1995 Lamborghini SE 30 Jota. It's my favorite exotic car, and I was able to see one in Miami Beach while vacationing there over Christmas break, with family. There are so many exotic cars, it's really tough to pick just one. I've loved Lamborghinis since I was a child though, so I'd have to say they are my favorite exotic cars.

It has to be the Ariel Atom. It may not be a Ferrari or a Bugatti, but OH MY GOD! is this a fun car and the best buy any man could ever do, I'm telling you, i can't die without ever owning one of this, and at $50,000.00 it is not a crazy dream.
If you want to see it going, take a look at this, i guarantee you you will never look at Ferrari or Bugatti the same way: Linky

Even though I love that '58 TR and I also love some other older Ferrari's even more, I feel tired of finesse and cutesy and I want a somewhat modernized big block Cobra. I don't mean an collector car, show car or garage queen, I want something to drive the hell out of and take it to the track as often as possible (instead of using my current car ...see comment below). The Cobra I want will have a few little things under the skin improved to suit my taste so it handles and stops better not to mention a modern lightweight big block of my choice.

comment/question: I wonder how many people even slightly approached the possibility that the car they have now would be the one you would choose for this thread? Man, I really really like my Supra so much that I seriously considered choosing it for this thread, but it would be highly moded to my taste, then I decided not to because they are a tad heavy for my "ultimate" dream selection. |

The Ariel Atom may outperform a Carrera GT, but there is no way I'd opt for it over a Porsche. Definitely impressive though, despite it not appealing to me at all.

I've always loved Lamborghini's since I was a kid. They have always been my favorite. I'd have to go with a Murcielago, ideally with a couple of mods and a kickass paint job just to make it stand out a bit more...

I would absolutely choose my car again! And it would be modded as I've been wanting to do and maybe will still do, should a windfall blow my way. My car is an 01 PT Cruiser. Right now the only mods are that it's lowered in the rear, has a K&N with a 2.5 inch cold air intake(sounds great and makes the car faster), some graphics painted on the front and rear and a 10-cd changer. Mods would include a PTeazer front end, lower the front, Flowmaster exhaust, rollpan and these wheels: http://www.wheelmax.com/Wheels/exel/speed-bronze.htm

This is a Porsche that I can fit my family in... but isn't an SUV. It has 4 doors and is a 4 seater, but it's a Porsche car (tons of HP, really refined); it's the best of all worlds. Ladies and gents, the 2008 Porsche Panamera. The ultimate father's day gift. Last edited by Willravel; 05-17-2006 at 02:58 PM.. Reason: I worded this post really poorly |

ahhh, my first automotive love ...but not as much love for the later series like in the pic, I prefer the early pre-68 models. In 1961 when the XKE first came out I was 12yo and immediately fell in love and said I'd own one one day. Within a few weeks after graduating from college, the first car I ever owned that I bought myself was the '67 XKE Roadster I bought in 1972, perfect condition ....orgasmic ownership PS: that Ariel Atom comparison with other track cars must have been in something other than Grassroots Motorsports since I looked and couldn't find it. Maybe it was a recent Sports Compact Car. |

That Koenigsegg is outrageous. Just awesome.
For me, Easy. It has to be: 1) Light 2) Fast 3) Mid-engine 4) Great brakes 5) Great handling 6) A Porsche Carrera GT (The Panamerica, along with the Cayenne, are Marketing Aberrations, not Porsches. You don't haul groceries or families in a Porsche - you get AWAY from groceries and families in a Porsche!!!) /carsnob Last edited by powerclown; 05-18-2006 at 05:38 PM.. |

And damn that Carrera GT, one of my favorite cars of ALL TIME! Too many great choices to narrow it down to just one, so giving up and throwing caution to the wind ...and since this is just fantasy and not really something I have to live with for the rest of my life... I stick with my personally massaged big block Cobra |

I'm impressed with your persistent practicality since Tech actually said "if you could own ONE awesome car, aside from your daily driver, grocery getter" and in spite of that you pick a nice grocery getter |

I'm also a fan of the 'Vette.
My high school band teacher had a Chevette Scooter sport. One of the most awkward attempts to infuse coolness into a dorkmobile. Seriously, It may not be my current favorite, but it has spent more time as my favorite than any other car. The F308. The F40 is close behind, only because it's a bit much.
