Oops I broke it...Again!

I guess I shouldn't have been hoping on it to hard when it was cool but I snapped something in my rearend. At first i though it was the U-joints because they where lose when I bought this car, but after changing them there was no change. So its off to the shop sometime this week and while they are fixing that problem I'm getting them to install my intake and carb, so after I hope ot have some pics, maybe even some track shots, Im going to miss the first test and tune because its next week (22nd) and I don't think she will be on the road then! But its only spring so I got the whole summer the brake the new rearend or axle(s) in.

If you're breaking gears, mind the transmission. Summer won't help its outlook on life.

Otherwise, congratulations. Hopefully your gear incident was shotgun-loud with that nasty chewing marbles grind as you came to a stop. No sense paying for an E ticket ride and not getting a story to go along with it.

It made a loud bang but its still moved after, so I have no idea how it moved from the look of the gear.

That was a GM 12 bolt single trac, from a '83 chevy silverado.

I had just rolled out of a big cloud of smoke and POP!!!

I shattered the spider gears....
I guess 454 cubic inches of power will do that..... Sigh

Good luck.

Ouch....been at the shop for over a week I'm starting to get mad, he has had the worng part shipped to him twice now.....But on a good note my intake and carb are in and working and my engine is a 400 c.i. (small block) not a 350 like the ad said when I bought it......
