I thought you cared enough
I thought I cared enough too
and maybe we did

If you stopped and I hadn’t
or I stopped and you hadn’t
this never would have happened

It’s odd how the
last thing we did together
wasn’t together at all.

I usually don't write stuff like this... but it felt good to get stuff on paper last night.

It's good when it feels good - almost feels like writing in the moment, and both the writer and the reader come to the same conclusion together. Thanks for sharing!

True to the heart. The best thing about poetry is that there are universal experience, unique to us all somehow, and still pull you remember. ;) Good stuff.

I like stanzas like this, a little cryptic, a little ironic, quite touching, and all the more satisfying. McGough esque.
