Poetic Practice # 1
I just got this idea, and thought I'd try it here. This is a twist on the shared story idea. I'll start a poem, by writing a single stanza. The next poster then writes the second stanza, doing their best to copy style, meter, and rhythm of the previous stanza. I know that the very last stanza won't match the first one, but that's what I'm hoping for, small changes that carry throughout the whole poem. Let's try to create an epic poem!
Night pours out over the land Wth brutal force and heavy hand Crushing the life out of the light A blanket of peace laden night |
Darkness breathes like pain in birth
Eating at the soul of Earth Blinding shadows hide the Sun From frozen waters on the run |
winds caress the land's fabric
lands caress back with mimic, flowing with time like clockwork oblivious to all inhabitant's lurk |
something deep inside it tells me.
something kept in hiding melts me. something strange is going on coming home shouldn't feel so wrong. |

Stopped clocks told the right time hours Ago. A north wind devours Unseen eyes, A bank of flowers, The dark swims with certain powers. |
blinded now by the night
shivers up my spine, a fright whats that noise yonder there tis evil and its everywhere |
Shadows creep where none should be
So I hide where none can see It's come to be, my worst fear My broken heart has beat me here |
