Another sonnet
"Father Green"
by Meliesa "I'm sorry, but your flight has been delayed," the tired-looking ticket-taker droned. A woman slept and snored; her legs were splayed so wide that Father turned away and groaned. A disembodied voice said, "Someone's phoned for Father Green." The static cackled high and crunching, munching through the great unknown. But Father Green just heaves a sobbing sigh and chooses to ignore that voice on high. He can't ingnore the din within his head reminding him how much he hates to fly; he vows next time to take the bus instead. And nowhere does he find within this host a sign of Father, Son, or Holy Ghost. Last edited by divagrrrl; 09-10-2004 at 06:32 AM.. |

Again, very nice.
For some reason it quite reminds me of Poe. I'm not sure. It could well just be that I've been reading to much "modern" - which is usually not to my taste (despite the fact that I seem doomed to write it) - poetry of late... so when I read this elegantly worded sonnet, with its sibilence, and sense of flow I jumped to that master Poe. Excellent. Truly excellent. |
