A Poem to My Wife
“The Woman Behind The Man”
When we first met, what people said was clear; Stay away from that man, his Whiskey, his Temper, His Beer. You took the chance and ignored there warnings, without any delay Even thou I continued to raise hell and was hell bent to live the cowboy way; He’ll be dead or in prison in a few years they all said, Why would you want to live with such a man or to lie in his bed? You must have noticed something in me, others could not see, You took the leap of faith, and with confidence…. tried to tame me. You put up with my rowdy friends and watched me destroy me life; But yet, you thought it best, to try to continue ahead… and became my wife. I tested your love and abused your trust for many of our years, Even now again when I revert to my ways, I can still cause you pain and tears. You have stood by my side in my worst moments of anger and fury, Calmly watching me rage and rant, knowing tomorrow’s memory will be blurry. Yet, when I wake up, you are always still there, Assessing the damage and beginning the repair. Almost fifteen years have come and gone since you walked into my life, And not a day goes by, where I know…. you have not dearly paid the price. Those days of recklessness and shame are pretty much through, You have made me what I am today, and deserve all the credit with out further a due. My heart can not take the thought of you not being by my side, Knowing you’re the love of my life, my heart fills with pride. We will continue to weather the storms of life and with each day stride, And I will try my hardest to be a good husband and take care of my bride. To any one who knows us and watched grow can see, You are not the woman behind the man, Simply, because you are the woman in front of me. KTH-aka Dawson70

Dawson...Gotta love a guy with the face of a (whatever the hell that is), and a heart of gold. My story is rather like yours, it went on a little longer, but didn't end nearly as nicely. I know she has, so I will join her in thanking you for that. I should have had the guts to write somehthing like that before it was too late...good luck to both of you...
