Humpty Dumpty
Here is my take on the classic nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty":
Born from sludge into something so ugly, A freakish egg named Humpty Dumpty. He joined the circus when the sky was black And turned to a bottle of Daniels, Jack. The alcohol swam in his overgrown head Which only made him wish he was dead. Having no friends and lots of enemies, He often hid in forests, behind trees. But his bulbous body couldn't be concealed, The kids found him and his shell they tried to peel. Fortunately his breath was far too rank Caused by all the alcohol he drank. The kids turned and ran the other way And Humpty could live another day. On a night when the sky shone scarlet An inebriated Humpty Dumpty climbed it. It being an ominous castle wall, Rubberneckers thought surely he would fall. Standing tall, observing the land below, He felt like a god, who could deal a massive blow. Instead a blow he was dealt. A strong gust of wind he felt. Landing pointy-head-first into the ground He exploded with a sickening crackling sound. Thinking he heard a priceless vase shatter, A guard thought it was an important matter. But when he observed the scene, The wall was splattered green. Not wanting to dirty his hands, He called for the pots and called for the pans. A great feast the town had that night, For Humpty Dumpty was a scrambled egg delight! |
