mariajuana "high" vs other "high"
Is getting high from marijuana different that getting high from tobacco? Is there even such a thing? Would it be considered wrong on issues of moral turpitude that I even felt the light headedness of a hookaj pipe? I've never have done marijuana so i was just curious... as for the reasoning... it has to do with polygraphs and background investigations.

Getting high from dope is very mellow - I did it a few times as a youth. Nicotine is a stimulant and so has the opposite effect.
Think of it like this - dope makes you feel good - but as if you're very tired and feel great. Ncotine makes some people feel good, but in the sense that adrenaline makes some people feel good - it's like the way you might feel aftr a ride on a rller coaster. These are not DESCRIPTIONS of the high, but ANALOGIES - before anyone jumps on me. ![]()

hmm, because when I used a hookaj i felt relaxed and such... eyes were glassy according to my friends. Im pretty naive when it comes to actual drug use or even cigarette use. What would be the point of going to hookaj bar if nicotine was suppose to make you hyper? Just curious, not flaming people who go to hookaj bars.

I think it has more to do with the fact that nicotine is so far and away the most addictive substance around. Once the body becomes dependant (I'm not using the word addicted for a reason) on a substance, denying that substance triggers a "panic alarm" of sorts. This can be in the form of nervousness, sweating, raise in blood pressure, shaking or whatever. Getting that substance will trigger a receptor in the brain telling the body to go back to "normal" which is how a stimulant can give a calming affect. It doesen't matter what the substance is, nicotine for a tobacco smoker, THC for pot smoker, or even a heavy meal for a chronic over-eater (which was me) will trigger the same response.
I haven't smoked pot for almost a year now, and I'm currently trying to re-kick the cig habbit. As for the difference in the feeling between pot and tobacco, yes they are very different. Pot definately slows me down and makes me dizzy and happy, the feeling lasts for a good hour or more. Cigs tend to make me wired and dizzy, but a different kind of dizzy, like amped up, and the feeling lasts only about 5-10 minutes.

exactly what mister coaster said, tobacco is much more addicting and its strange because you will find that there are many many pot smokers that refuse to smoke tobacco, its just something they dont do.. i used to be the same way, id smoke pot whenever with my group of buddies but none of us smoked tobacco because well i felt that it was way different and i didnt like the buzz from it...
even though pot isnt as addicting as tobacco, it can become a very bad habbit...but personally i thought quitting smoking pot was for me and a few guys i know(who we all were fairly regular smokers) was very easy..

Totally different processes going on in your brain, as everyone else has said. On the bad side, I've heard lung damage is higher from less pot than from cigs. As with everything - balance!

I smoke cigarettes and weed everyday. I don't feel light headed from cigarettes anymore. When I first started smoking cigarettes I would get that head rush, but not anymore. Weed is alot different. You get high! I get some stuff thats so good you can't fuction. Its beyond mellow. Weed has a mental addiction if you smoke it alot.
Cigarettes on the other hand have a mental addiction and a physical addiction. I feel empty after 5 hours without a cigarette.(If I ever go that long.) You can feel it in your stomach. Like your hungry, but not for food. Its weird. I could quit weed anytime I wanted. I just don't want to. Cigarettes forget about it! ![]()

In my case, the effect fucking comes in wide range... For starters, I tend to go really really werided out, crazy and I would never make sense. Other times, I would just be lied down and feel all burnt out. Because I don't smoke any ciggie, I can't tell you guys what's the different between weed high and ciggie high. But I can tell you this, my friends find that when you're smoking a ciggie after getting high with weed, it helps you to get even higher. Although, I do want to get high as possible but I'm not really interested in smoking ciggie since it stinks.

When I smoke pot, it slows everything down and maked me giddy. I love it because of that. When I used to smoke cigs, they gave me that head rush dizzy buzz, but for a much shorter period of time.

I used to smoke to calm down. It'd give me...well....a feeling of calm.
When I used to smoke pot my head would spin, I'd space out and laugh...at...nothing. Nothing great really. Sleeping in, my boyfriend and family guy give me better highs then drugs ever did. ![]() |

I get giggly smoking pot, but I've never had a bad experience. Fun stuff.
Cigs don't do much for me.

The high from pot is from the neurological effects of THC. As far as I can tell, the "high" from regular smoke is mild stimulation combined with oxygen deprivation and mild carbon monoxide poisoning. Cloves add the nice element of releasing an anaesthetic that no tonly gets absorbed into the bloodstream, but ensures that you don't feel your lungs bleeding.

Just tell them that cigarettes make you a little giddy sometimes. They'll just shrug. Maybe they'll ask you how often you smoke; and you say, not on the job.
Any buzz from tobacco is very short-term; many heavy smokers lose the buzz almost entirely, and have to smoke just to feel normal. On the other hand, nobody I know ever built up a tolerance to marijuana. In fact, the more you smoke, the easier it is to get blasted and stay that way. That's why I quit, many years ago. I'd get high and feel the effects for the rest of the day; not full-blown giddiness, but a distance and disconnect from the world. Then it'd take me two days to come all the way back. Then three. Then I _never_ felt normal, even just getting high three days a week. So I stopped, because I value a clear head. |

Mister Coaster hit it on the head. marijuana is a completely different drug. i did/do smoke weed and i personally like it and have never had the urge to smoke cigarettes, and i have good friends that are exactly the opposite. they have done it, but it just isn't their thing. one thing that i have found with marijuana is that different strains will make you feel different, some with make you more awake and aware but still high or others will nock you out and make you just want to sleep. i have also found that you can control your high, if i stay active i don't get tired from my high, but if i just sit there, i will get tired and fall asleep. i guess it all depends on why you smoke, relaxation or escape.
