Decent mattresses
I really don't know where to put this, but health seems a decent place.
My husband and I need a new bed...new mattresses specifically. We have a double sized cheapo bed we've been sleeping on for six years, and it's time to get a new one. However, I've never bought mattresses before. What kinds are good? Are the really expensive ones worth it? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Oh, this one is very firm. I've never really slept on anything else, but I've noticed I wake up with back/neck/head pain quite frequently with this one. |
I'm a big fan of the TempurPedic; rather than rewrite it, check out what I wrote in Tilted Forum Project - Help me sleep. There are cheaper versions of it out now, they might be as good, I don't know.

I just recently bought a new matress with my wife. We teried alot of them out...then we looked at the price. we picked the one that was the most comftorable. When you think about it...you spend about a third of a day in bed every day. You should make sure that the bed will work for both of you. Most places will give you the do not pay for x mopnths or pay x over x time. My wife nad I got a sealy posturpedic that set us back 1800...but it was the only one that we could both agree felt the best.
make sure when you lie on one it's fopr a few minutes and that you lie on the bed how you would normally lie on a bed. if it doesn't feel right...go onto the next. |
everyone has different tastes in mattress - -I think it was a hyatt or a hilton I was in that had the tempur pedics (the marriots I've been in have a mattress brand that begins with S -- it's got a super large box spring and a mattress that's only about 6 inches thick - it's nice and firm and extraordinarily comfy.... It's not serta or sealy or a name brand...
Theonly thing I would steer against would be a pillow top mattress... I have one that I bought about 4 -5 years ago, and I can't wait to replace it - I really hate it - it's comfy -but it's hard to find sheets for it - at least high thread count sheets... |
