Acne

I know there are other threads out there but most deal with acne on the face not on the body. Lately I've noticed quite an outbreak on my chest and back. I have not changed my batheing regime. I bathe daily and when I wash my face from sweat I wash my shoulders and chest as well. I've done this for as long as I can remember. Yet in the past week I've broken out so severely that I'm constantly itching on my chest and shoulders. I've ended up scratching some places until they look like hives. They go away to simple acne though as long as I force myself not to scratch. I am 31. Acne should be going away not getting worse. Are there any products or methods that you would recommend for cleaning/moisturing so that I can prevent new breakouts? Is this normal for my age? Are my hormones changing or something so that I'm getting this? My facial acne is not any worse. In fact it may actually be somewhat better. My skin does not feel dryer. I'm normally oily in the T-zone and normal elseware and it seems to be this way even now.

I'm just wondering if there's much I can do or if it's just part of aging or something.

I just recently got my bacne under control with a combo attack.
I use facial cleanser on my back when I shower (Neutorgina Foaming Facial Cleanser, to be exact) and then, twice a day, I use Stridex Triple Action Maximum Strength pads on my back. Also, be sure to totally dry off your body after getting out of the shower, before you get into clothes. Not sure what that does, but I had read that somewhere.

raeanna74, there is a strange spike in acne in the late 20's and early 30's then goes away again. Probably related to a hormone surge of some kind. Of course being pregnant always makes acne worse.

Simple things to do are first, clean the affected areas like you said with a mild soap. Try not to irritate the area (i.e. no scrubbing hard or washing 20 times a day). Use over the counter preparations like El Pollo mentioned (all very good).
If it gets worse, especially when they look like hives, consult your family physician. You might have mis-diagnosed yourself and have another dermatoligic condition.
If it is acne, an antibiotic cream/pill helps alot.

Acne on the chest and back is the same as on the face, but a bit less socially stigmatizing. Hope it clears up.
