Best way to wash jerseys?
What's the best way to wash jerseys?
I've had bad experience where my grandmother once washed a hockey jersey and the end product looked like as if the logo was burnt and was about to be peeled off. I have a baseball jersey that's gotten dirty and I would like to avoid the same situation.

there should be washing instructions on the label.. but I would probably wash in cold water - INSIDE OUT.. and either avoid the dryer completely and let i t dry flat or dry in a cool dryer.
The melting and burning was caused by being in too hot a dryer.

Thanks Mal.
I know for sure you can't mix cotton shirt where one is red and the other is white, would that apply to jerseys as well?

What fabric is this made out of? Cotton or a polyester type....
Cottons tend to bleed more than other fabrics, which is why you should wash bright colors seperately... However, washing i n cold water prevents some of that bleeding. If in doubt, I would wash the items seperately.

Another suggestion . . . if it's a jersey that really means a lot to you, although it's kind of a pain in the ass, you could always hand wash it in the sink with a liquid detergent for delicates (I use one made by Ecover that's great!) Or, wash it on the delicate cycle (inside out like Mal suggested). The dryer is much more damaging than washing, but if it's a special jersey . . . I know it sounds funny but I always wash my S/O Giant's jerseys on delicate setting with my undies and stuff
