Hey guys I'm just wondering how you guys priortize your relationships.

Bros before hos, hos before bros, or do you balance the two?

Hmmm, not really sure how to answer this. 95% of the people I hang out with on a regular basis are women. Would the girls I hang out with count as Bros or Hos? And if you say Hos, you can tell them that, they'd kill me!

why did you pick the word 'ho'?? do you mean HOOKERS come before friends or what?

using the term 'Ho' you're going to and have already sparked the ire of the women who read this . . .

well I thought this phrase basically refers to friends first, or girls (girlfriend) first? But good interpretation though.

ok, i know i'm being quick to judge... and i don't know you.... but ummm, i'm guessing you're single or will soon be.

you put your loved ones before anything. it doesn't matter if they're men or women, friend, relatives, SO... anyone who makes you choose one group over another needs to look at their own priorities. (ok, when i use "you" in that last section, i meant "me")

edit: ok, i've loosened the sphincter a little. i hope you have more resepect for women than i first imagined. i am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you just like the rhyme of bro and ho. it does have a nice ring to it. if you really feel they're hoes. they're not worth your time.

assuming you mean friends & group activities vs. time alone with the SO, register me in the "balance" section.

I agree. I realize the meaning behind this phrase, but it is gender biased. I don't appreciate its use.

Anyway, in terms of whether I would choose friends over a SO is a tough decision. Really good friends will always be there for you, and boyfriend/girlfriend relationships can be pretty uncertain. Hmm... I'd probably give them equal time... have to keep the balance.

Equal time. Women fought for their rights back in the day, so they get it from me. As a guy that's 100% heterosexual, I find the majority (read: nearly 99%) of my friends to be female. I find that I connect with them better I guess.

woah!
this was a saying everyone would say back in HS.
Alot of girls I knew would change it and say "ho's b4 bros"
Think if your at the bar, one girl gettin action, the other not and wanting to leave. to convince her friend that they should leave together she might say this.
its all for the rhyme. I dont think anyone really thinks of it as derogatory.

I think it is. And since in high school, not a lot of people cared about what might be considered offensive, that's why I think it was used.

Hmm, I wouldn't say 99% of my friends are female. But 99% of the friends I would consider very close are female. Is this common for males? I always assumed I was weird

My "ho", wow when I use that word in reference to her it does seem quite derogitory! So my girlfriend is alot more important to me than my bros, cause shes been around longer, and been less two-faced than 99% of the bros Ive ever had. She also understands me better and is more of a friend than any bro Ive ever had.

I realize this was addressed to the gentlemen, but as my casual freinds are all male, and my SO female, I think I'm qualified. A long term romantic partner comes before a casual friend.

For the bar question, I'd turn it around. If I were unattached and met a nice girl at a bar, and had to choose between her and giving my friend a ride home, I'd go with the friend. The prior commitment to someone I care about gets precedence over someone I just met.

The term we had for this was "mates before dates." In this case, the "dates" were certainly not girls that had reached the status of SOs, but girls that you might want to ask out. The dilemma was blowing off a friend so that you could hook up with a girl, or even hooking up with a girl that you knew your mate wanted to hook up with himself.

In this case, mates most certainly came before dates.

Depends on how much I care about the girl. If I'm just trying to hook up and my friend needs me then I'm there for him. If I'm in a committed relationship though it'd have to be both. I've also noticed I can't be friends with girls because either they eventually crush on me and I hurt their feelings or the other way around and that sucks .

I've managed to have one or two good girlfriends in real life though but one was quite fond of me and when I told her "just friends" I know it hurt her but then she embraced the idea and we became good friends. Distance has kind of killed the relationship though. I haven't talked to her in forever. I should get back in touch.

The people i care about are the people i care about, i don't have any bros and i don't have any hos. Given a situation where i had to choose between people i care about, well, it all depends on the context. I doubt i would choose to remain a friend with someone who had such little respect for me so as to force me to make such a choice.

Relationships are too complex to be summarized with simplistic slogans.

LOL! Thanks for the responses guys. Some of you guys need a sense of humor. Oh well. The title of the thread was a joke anyway. I had just got out of a 2.5 year relationship over a year ago and currently enjoy being single at the moment. I personally give my close buddies(not casual friends, I should of mentioned that in the poll) and SOs equal time no matter what. I think it's selfish to devote all your time to one person and cut off others. Currently I have a few close friends who have basically been forced to cut me off because their dominating girlfriends won't let them have time outside their relationships. So yes you could say I am a bit bitter.

This is part of growing up.

You go from being a 'pack' of young males, to being 'mated'.

Ethology at its core.

And while some people take this to an extreem early on, aka 'whipped', always in the end your SO comes first, period. The few men I've known who try to continue as a young male after they get married soon find themselves not married.

This is exactly the meaning of "bro's before ho's" in my opinion.

ex. In a bar, meet a girl, have an awesome time, and she's going to go home with you. The problem is that the friend that came with you had a bad night and got piss drunk. Do you go home with the girl or take care of your buddy?

I think if either group - be it bro's or ho's - made you choose between them, then neither are worth your time. I'm in a 2-year relationship so I try and get a balance while prioritising at the same time. Impossible? I think not.

So if your SO's birthday and game 7 of the NBA finals are on the same day, take your girl to the game and get her name on the big screen
