Cheap International Flights?
Hi Everyone,
I'm flying to Cairo (destined for Hurghada) this coming August and I need to find the most el cheapo seats possible! I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada... so my flight will most likely have to go through Amsterdam. Anyone have any discount fliers?

No idea what kind of rates you've gotten so far... but going thru
www.mobissimo.com Brought me to www.opodo.com (the rate on mobissimo lied) http://www.opodo.co.uk/otpbvpl/Jsp/o...&NUM_OF_INFS=0 that fare was 972 GPB (if I could do the conversion in my head I would) ------------------- You might also want to check alternate airports...

Thanks for the reply.
I knew the fare looked too good to be true. When I clicked on the link and went through opodo, the price turned out to be 933GBP (which is about 2200$Cdn). This is great, because all the previous flights were at least 3000$ Cdn. But alas, after signing up to the site and going through all the motions, I found out that they only serve UK residents. They can only mail the paper tickets (and even e-tickets) to a UK address/residence, even though the flight itself is to and from Canada. Seems weird. But since I'm not in the UK... ! I appreciate the notion. My search continues

Go back to Mobissimo - there's another fare thru OneTravel for 1978 US - which is about 2500 Canadian... Still high, but it's lower than 3000.
If you can get to Toronto easily... the fare drops to about 1900 US... There were also a few really cheap flights (under 700 dollars US) from London to Cairo -if you can get a cheap flight to London elsewhere, it's more work, but it might be an option for you)

OK, I'm bored:
Playing around on mobissimo... not having your exact dates makes it harder.. but.. assuming a saturday stay.. you can book a round trop from Winnipeg to London for about 1300 on Air Canada. THEN book another round trip from London to Cairo for under 1000 dollars on either Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Aliitalia, or Air France OR Book a flight from Winnipeg to Newark, NJ for about 656 canadian on British Airways (I think) THEN Go from Newark to Cairo for under 1400 Canadian on Aliitalia...

Look, I'm in the travel industry and I can tell you for a fact right now that there are no cheap fares overseas. You're just going to have to pony up and pay for it. Soory to sound harsh but that's the honest truth. If you do find a slightly cheaper fare, be prepared to make 5 stops to get where you're going.
Southwest doesn't fly to Cairo my friend. |

Well, I guess cheap is all relative. I'm not looking for a 200$ flight half way across the world. But I was surprised at the going prices to Cairo from my home, 3000$ seems like a lot of money... And the difference between 3000 and 2000$ is huge, I just thought I would see if anyone knew of any cheaper alternatives than the standard Expedia.ca/Travelocity.ca/etc.
Thanks for your help Maleficient, I appreciate it a lot. I did find what looks like the same flight that is being sold on Opodo on a site called "ebookers.com" for the same price (about 950GBP). And unlike Opodo, this site seems to be able to mail the tickets overseas (although quite pricey, 30GBP). Plus the flight is entirely non-refundable, which is a bit worrisome. For now I'll keep looking and I may have to do something similar to what your suggesting Mal... two different bookings.

Does cheaptickets.com have a canadian site? All the best fares I've ever found are on that website. Better than travelocity, orbitz, and expedia, IMO.
