They're all pretty similar, except some have herbals and other stuff added in on top of your essential vitamins and minerals. Get a generic, they're just as good and you'll save a few bucks. It's not imperative to take as even if you don't eat healthy you still get most of what you need to live from it (unless you're really really malnourishing yourself) but it generally is good for you.
Take it with the largest meal of the day (which is for most people, supper) to get max absorbtion and minimize stomach upset.

I personally like Dualtabs from Twinlab. For several reasons:
1. they are time release....you take one in the AM and one in the PM 2. they provide 100% of many items and much more of others, including the B complex 3. they have absorption aids....and ask someone that cleans portables toliets what they flush out....it will be all the normal stuff that doesn't disolve or absorb in your body 4. since taking these things about six years ago I have not experienced a cold or the flu I get mine (200 count) for $22.95 plus shipping from: https://www.webvitamins.com/ they have great service I first started on these when I was trying to find quality for all the different vitamins I was taking. A very knowledgable individual told me about these. I've been happy ever since.

Slushi....just curious. Are the other items you isted vitamin enriched? If so, what benefits do you see in more after taking the Dualtabs? I hear all sorts of things regarding too many vitamins and I try to monitor that closely.
If I want some protein I go for Optimum Nutrition (ON) which is quite tasty and reasonably priced.

If you don't eat healthy, which is a broad description; I would recommend eating a fortified cereal. Even tasty cereals such as honey-nut cheerios have many vitamins in 100% daily value. If you can't eat a fortified cereal daily, a multivitamin would be beneficial. It probably won’t harm you; because most water soluble vitamins, minerals, etc require very high doses to cause toxicity. You can get toxic on fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) more easily, so use caution and good judgment on how much Vitamin A, D, E, and K is being given in your vitamin of choice. Your best bet would be to eat a healthy, balanced diet containing a lot of fruits, vegetables, and whole grain breads. Don’t forget to eat lean meats (preferably chicken) in moderation, only a couple servings a day are needed. Servings are not big either. Eat some fish regularly for essentially fatty acids, but beware of deep-sea fish because they may contain dangerous amounts of mercury. Try not to add salt to foods, and cook with vegetable oils. I got carried away, and was trying to be witty. In reality, a special few have the time and discipline to eat that healthy. I know I don't. If interested, pick up a nutrition book from your local library, and make small, but achievable goals. |

I think Ill try a fortified cereal.
I could never purchase a multi-vitamin in a store. I feel they are for old people. And for some reason I seriously care what strangers think about me. I that it is neurotic or paranoid. But I could never buy anything abnormal. |

Then you can always order on-line. Also, there are several other benefits with supplementing your diet....
One of the problems with today's foods is that many are grown in soil that has lost its nutrients over time. So, you end up with fruit or veggies that look right due to an assortment of reasons including genetic engineering, etc., but contain much less of what you need. Organic foods seem to overcome this problem but I suspect those benefits will diminish as organic becomes more and more mainstream. Another good reason to supplement can be based on your lifestyle. And by that, I mean how hard you may work out, how much you work and the mental stress that may produce, as well as other things like poor sleeping or the stress of travel. All these activities can stress your system. Higher than 100% levels of certain elements can actually be a good thing given all of the above. The B complex is a good example of a natural energy boost. My only concern with fortified foods is the lack of information on how it is fortified and the source of the chemicals used. Actually, fortified foods frighten me personally.

Anyway, don't worry about what people think. If you go on doing that too much, you will never be your true self. I'm sure you already know all this.
