Looking for a GOOD dating site
Couldn't think of anywhere else to put this, so I hope I'm not pissing anybody off.
First off, I'm not looking for something like Adultfriendfinder.com, yes I know it's there, no that's not the kind of thing that I'm looking for :) at least not yet. I'm divorced with kids, been single a little over 2 years, and I'm tired of it, I've tried a couple of sites which were a complete waste of money. I'm hoping that all of you have had some success somewhere in a site that had decent people and that you could give me some recommendations or advice. Aslo, I'm well aware that meeting people in the real world is a much better solution, but with my current work/financial/transportation situation that's not very feasible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Unless you make some time specially dedicated to trying to form relationships in person, you aren't going to have any success. However, I guess Lavalife is a pretty good service, because they offer 3 different types of profiles for you to have (seeking dates, seeking relationships, and seeking intimate encounters). It's relatively cheap, too.

I understand the need for the personal interaction to build past the fantasy stage of a relationship, I guess to clarify I should have said that what I'm most interested in is a site that can provide me with information to make the initial contacts with new people, a factor that I'm currently unable to supply myself.
Thanks for the lead though :) |
www.eharmony.com advertises themselves as having more serious about dating members, primarily because of the pretty lengthy profile that you are asked to fill out. It's also a little more costly than some of the other sites.
I've heard good things about them from other people who have had success with it (all men) my own experience with it, was it's the same assholes that prowl every other site (which pretty much leads me to beleive I give really bad ad... :( I don't know if they have a trial period, but it's definitely worth checking out. The guys I know who have used it, claim they've met women of a little less skanky than some of the free dating sites. |
I acutally have a profile on eHarmony already :) the only thing that I've hesitated about with that site is the price, but hey, I spent countless thousands on my exwife, look where it got me, what's $45/month to find somebody worthwhile?

is nerve.com too informal and/or skewed too young for you? a lot of people I know swear by it.
what about match.com? also have some friends who are big fans of it. never used an online dating service myself, so I can't speak from personal experience. |
friendster?
asianavenue? though most users are aged 16 to 22, there are members in their 20 to 40s. |
True.com is a pretty good site. It utilizes a personality profile to find people who are compatible with you. And it's a rather extensive profile. It takes about an hour to fill out. It's also only $30/month. And you ladies may find me on there ;)
And if you feel like being, err, "bad", there are dating sites for married people. Those are much more expensive, but if you're one of those skumbags without a conscience, then give it try. |

I've never been to nerve.com I'll have to look that one up, thanks! 777 - I'll look into True.com but if they really filter felons I'm in trouble :) I was bad when I was a kid. |
I tried eharmony and had very little luck with it. One of my coworkers met his current girlfriend on there and is very happy.

eHarmony(sp?) has worked out pretty well for me
