South Africa/Cape Town - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Gf and I are planning on moving to Cape Town in roughly two years. We both hold Canadian passports, and are planning on living there from 1-2 years then moving to London. Just curious as to anyone's Cape Town / SA tales of being there within the last few years - good or bad.

i went there in 1999 on a holiday, so i dont know if thats really recent enough for detailed analysis.
Doos is your guy to ask here, Cape Town is his hometown, but im not sure if he's around much anymore.

I went there 2-3 years back. It's a nice place but you do need to exercise a degree of caution.

As a South African resident/citizen, i might be a bit biased when giving my opinion, but things have definitely gotten significacantly better in the last two years; so much so that I'm contemplating moving from Port Elizabeth (smaller city along the south coast) to Cape Town later this year.

The economy's up (apparently) and interest rates are down (for how long) and CT great weather, so unless you're going to be staying in a slum (not recommended), I have nothing bad to say. Find a nice area to live in and you'll be quite happy.
