PARIS in april. Teens along for the trip. Suggestions?

Hey, we'll be in Paris from the 20-23rd...

The Louvre takes a whole day just to get a sample. (Restaurant prices drop 50% for every block you get away from the Louvre.) Champs Elysees can take a whole day. Or you can walk to the Eiffel tower and expo grounds. Sacre Coeur at night is a lot of fun. Cafes and artists. Catacombs are very interesting but a bit creepy. Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle are a must.

If you have time for day trips, consider Chartres and/or Mont Ste Michelle (my personal favourite place in France).

I must agree Notre Dame is a must. I'm still kicking myself two years later that I got outvoted on going there - that alone is a reason for anothe trip back. Walking along the Seine is really relaxing, and you see a lot of parts of the city as well.

Take your kids along the Champs-Elysees and into the Latin Quarter. Great shopping and good sights.

Just let the city take you where it will...exploring Paris is a wonderful experience in and of itself.

Versailles is pretty interesting. I don't think it is that far out of Paris. The palace is huge and the grounds are pretty interesting. This is supposed to have been the most elaborate palace in Europe and was part of the motivation for the French revolution. The part of the tour I went on inside had gold leaf and chandeliers everywhere. The hall of mirrors was my favorite part of the inside tour.

Dogzilla - that was my favorite part too! The grounds and gardens are supposed to be beautiful - unfortunately it was raining when we were there so they were closed.

Montmartre is where it's at. Nowhere else will you find such a concentration of musicians.

Go to the Mozaic. It's a culture learning experience right there. It's a little tea cafe located on Rue des Martyrs in Montmartre. I spent every night of my trip there talking about everything with the owner (who is from Chicago).

Also, don't underestimate the power of the sandwich. Everywhere you go in Paris you will find places with sandwiches--usually fresh meats on baguette. Try one. They're delicious.

The Luxembourg Gardens are really nice. So relaxing. The Parc De la Villette is really nice also. If you have teens, you could take them to the science museum. It has tons of interactive things, but only after you've seen all the really great things.

whoa, this is crazy. i have a friend who is in paris right now! man, i guess it really is popular to be in paris in april. hmmm.... i'm going to listen to that album now. :-)

oh yeah, and you can't go wrong with the Louvre and the Eiffel tower.

Momartre, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysee, Latin Quarter... I'd also take a wander into Pigalle. But... if you want to go to Pigalle (the red light district) you should do it first. It has loads of sqalid charm but more importantly it will let you appreciate everything else that much more...

I agree with onesnowyowl... let the city guide you. Get a good map (in case you get lost) and a good guide book (so you know what you are looking at when you see something cool)...

Just walking around is a "museum" culture on it's own. Everyone has great ideas: check out museums, walk around, don't forget to relax outside and take it all in, and try different foods (mousse au chocolat)!
